Yeah the game requires you to pick a faction to do the main quest. Plus it is the best way to boost your levels, just wandering alone, shooting raiders and what not won't get it done.

Yes, and I do that partially. I'm level 33 or so now and die mostly only because I got too cocky / lazy. Now I'm basically following the main quest only with the additional side-quest presented by characters I like (Hancock or Nick for example).

I just think it's missing a "faction" where you mind mostly your own business or where you actually create the faction. Let's call it "The Good Guys". Now you have a really nice Open World with pretty good choices how to tackle the game with lots of freedom but ultimately and unavoidably get pushed into tunnel vision of those faction quests. Just a minor nickpick maybe but definitely missing that!

I didn't mind the factions, and to some degree that was part of the fun for me. I fairly quickly abandoned the Minutemen, and gravitated towards the BOS, though I did enjoy some of the railroad quests and also the institute's.

I'm eagerly waiting for the DLC as well :D

The BOS? Nah, don't like the way they speak to me! I think Danse waits for me on that rooftop for ages now :D

The DLC doesn't interst me the least (except that harbour / story driven one). But anyway, not going to spend countless hours in this game anyway so I'm not dissapointed either. Glad you like it.

As I play Fallout 3 and 4, I'm finding that the FO4 is so much more immersive and detailed. The wasteland is littered with lots of places, the environment is much more varied, such as the weather. Overall, I'm really liking FO4 over 3. I'm not knocking Fallout 3, I spent a good portion of last week playing it, and its a good game, but Fallout 4 certainly raised the bar.

I've had fallout 4 since launch and just can't get into it. I was thinking about trading it now for future credit but reading these posts makes me want to give it another try. I'll probably trade it in :)

I feel the same way. When it comes to an immersive world, I think Bethesda learned a lot from Skyrim and applied it to FO4.

I've started the first DLC of Fallout 4 - Automatron and it seems engaging and enjoyable.

I have no idea how large/encompassing its going to be, so I'm enjoying it. I'm looking to improve my robot and see where this takes me. I did most of game alone without a companion, so its a bit odd to have one.

Sadly, it's kinda short. I'm having far too much fun building robots now tho.

I'm really anticipating Far Harbor, apparently it's going to be the biggest DLC map Bethesda's ever done.

Yeah, very short - kind of disappointing to be honest. I've played with modding a robot but I prefer the lone wolf wanderer perk

Perception , agility and luck with a reduced vats build is a killer !!!

I can get literally hundreds of shots out of one bar using vats enhanced armour , the skill tree in luck and agility and the deliverer now , it's crazy and hilarious ! :D

The railway ballistic armour mod is exc too, 210+ with just a cloth cap lol

I hated using that power armor. It requires fuels. In fallout 3, you didn't need that fuel. You just equip it and go.

To be fair, the fuel for the power armor is plentiful.
Even if it was plentiful...i hate to worry about replacing fuels. In part 3, I was able to go RAMBO on everyone without worrying about this. To each its own i suppose.

While I wait for the DLC, I decided to replay the game, setting up my SPECIAL a bit differently and just having fun.

I forgot how slow it was to build up on decent weapons in the beginning. The first main mission to help the minutemen took a long time to finish. I have time, so its nice to rediscover stuff I've forgotten about. Plus I never finished the game as the railroad ending or the Minutemen ending, so I may do one of those endings.

I do think the BoS ending was the most colorful, and I got a really nice powersuit, but as inferred above, I really don't use powersuits. I had about about 40+ FCs in my inventory under my old character.

The one thing that is a pet peeve for me, is the slow load times for levels, or entering buildings (or leaving buildings). Maybe its because I have the disc vs. buying it from Sony, but its kind of slow when there's a load action

I just finished fallout 4 and ended the main quest by way of the railroad. As I've read through the other endings, it seems the Railroad is the least morally ambiguous ending. I was only going to do that ending, just to see what different quests are presented, but after seeing my new character progress and I updated my weapons to some pretty hefty ones. I'm more likely to start the next DLC with this character

I also found on the web, that Fallout 4 has a 5th hidden finish, that allows all the factions (but the institute) to survive.

I think when I'm motivated, I'll go back to an early saved game and see if I can accomplish this, but for now, I think I'll move on to Far Harbor

I'll see if I can find it again, but there's something similar for Far Harbor.

I restarted the game, fixing some of the earlier decisions that I came to regret. Mostly though I found myself relying on perception and agility. Those two seem to go hand in hand fairly well. I over stocked in strength for some reason on my first go around, probably a result of my playing FPS games and thinking it would be a good thing, but as the game unfolded, my game play did not mesh with the ability.

Sounds like someone was playing DOOM a little to much? Fall Out has nothing to do with "Button Mashing" and everything to do with end result decisions. The game will further become very difficult, as coming from someone who invested over 300 hours. It's not a linear game play and will put you at a point where some lose interest being its very deep in story and Upgrade elements. It's the only game I had to refer to an online walk through in some parts, being it was very difficult to pass. Take your time and utilize your resources the best you can.

So I'm playing Fallout 4 and cannot believe the sheer size, and depth of the game. Its been great. I think I'm up to level 14, though I've not upgraded my character's perks since level 9 so I have bunch to apply.

Any suggestions on character development, i.e., keep going with Intelligence and perception as I have?

I just got to Diamond City and did the Valentine quest, which was hard.

I'm not sure if I continue the main story line how much more of the game I have but I suspect there's still a hefty amount. I've been busy doing the other quests.

I've aligned myself with the Brotherhood of Steele and I thought I'd see some better weapons and ammo but every time I go to the Cambridge PD, there's no new supplies - any thoughts and suggestions?

Also any place where I can get the energy cells to power the laser guns (other then buying them from diamond city?) Thanks to the quests done in the Brotherhood of steel, I'm mostly out of ammo.

Edit: Disregard my last post to you. I did not realize you completed the game.

Perhaps you should go through the thread before calling me out on button mashing ;)

Back on topic,
I did a little more digging and while the hidden 5th ending seems intriguing, I have to go back too far in the game, to enable this, and I'm not sure its worth it. As noted in my earlier post, I'm very happy with how my character has developed and the weapons I've upgraded.

I'm poking around picking up some magazines that I hadn't gotten yet, and any bobbleheads I might have missed. I'll be starting up far harbor shortly.

I wonder if far habor will he the last major DLC for fallout 4.

Have you played Uncharted 4-A Thiefs End yet? Amazing game. I would also recommend the Nathan Drake series remastered, it's three games on one disc. It's only for the PS4, not for the Xbox One.

Probably the best series I have ever played.

No, I've not played any Uncharted games yet. That might be something I do later this fall.
