When the Elder Scrolls VI comes out, I am going to enter an unhealthy of amount of seclusion. I may never emerge to see the real world again. :p

It already happened badly enough with Skyrim, but I know ES VI will be even worse.

Are you guys playing on PC or console?

I don't doubt it. Fallout 4 pre-production started before Skyrim was even out. Crazy!

You want to talk about an unhealthy level of video gaming playing?

Screen Shot 2016-10-22 at 8.03.00 AM.png

I took a vacation for 3 days specifically to play Skyrim remastered. I'm a console player so I haven't played it for 3 years or so.
[doublepost=1477138076][/doublepost]For those interested currently on PSN all the Fallout 4 DLC is 33% off until the 25th. I already had Vault Tec and Far Harbor, went ahead and got Automatron, Nuka-World, Contraption & Wasteland workshops.

I never responded to this!

You took three days off of work to play Skyrim remastered?! That is awesome. :D You're going to have so much fun! Kinda funny how the game is coming out on a Friday instead of the usual Tuesday that video games are released. Skyrim originally came out on a Friday as well. I'll remember that day forever--11/11/11!

Well technically it gets worse. When I heard about the remaster I bought a new 65" 4K HDR TV because I wanted a bigger screen to play it on. But then I didn't want to hang a new TV on an old wall so I repainted. Since my living is connected to the dining room and foyer I needed to repaint those too.

I essentially bought a 3000 dollar TV and remodeled my house for Skyrim.

Yeeaahhh.... lol

:D Your face is going to melt playing Skyrim on that 65" TV. So cool!

And hey, decent excuse for remodeling the house..! I think..?!

I'm replaying fallout for from a saved point to try to see how the 5th undocumented ending is. I mentioned that already, where you don't have to pick any faction. That's not why posting, because I'm starting back from a point whereI just hooked up with BOS and I'm still doing minuteman quests.

Anyways, what I find is odd, and a bit of a bummer is that the DLC stuff is all present, for instance, if I do a BOS Clearing out the commonwealth quest, it seems more likely to send me to Far Harbor to kill the ghouls and not the commonwealth. So of course I need to start that DLC to access far harbor. Seems kind of odd

I've discovered some newer quests that I never did before, such as the big dig, so it was a nice move to restart the game from an earlier saved point.

Oh, weird. I'd have figured that the algorithm that the game uses to assign dynamic quests wouldn't send you out of the Commonwealth. I'm sure that's a little bit annoying.

It is, because I didn't want to start the far harbor quest until later on, i.e., better weapons, better resistance to radiation, etc etc.

I never tried it but can you disable it in the mod list?

I have all the DLC but I'm only turning it on once I'm done the previous one.

After Nuka World I'll have 100% of the trophies in the main game and all the DLC. Man, getting a settlements happiness to 100% was one of the most obnoxious things I've done in a while.

I finished playing around with fallout 4, again. I first did the "secret" ending where none of the factions (other then the Institute) are destroyed, but that left me disappointed. I don't know why but it just didn't have the same level of closure.

I then back tracked a little bit and finished it as the BOS, which gave me some nice high tech toys :D

Minutemen/settlements are the obnoxious things really lol. Sped through one play to get a feel for the game. Now on replays....I blow off Preston and his merry band entirely.

Lose some xp for the quests, get a lot of personal happiness though. Very fair tradeoff imo. Gets its more like FO3/NV style which I like more.

I envy your completionist spirit...and your stroke of luck. Have had to whip out of the console mods for xbone for the sole reason I hit mission bugs. there went that save, and another. 2-3 replays, know potential pitfalls and how to avoid I may go for that clean save one final time to 100%.

Preface: These would by and large be Xbox one mods. Many rely on external file support of some kind which Sony is not allowing for whatever reason.

Preface 2: If not aware, and you didn't read the warning the game gives when you turn on mods, mods will disable achievements. To me, not a deal breaker. Others mileage may vary.

Just in case a jolly fat man or whatever spirit of the season gives presents this time of year. Or if not your thing...the sales around this time to hard to pass no matter your stance I would gather lol.

I'd figure I give up a small mod list those interested in their new game...or bitters who played through a few times might find in interesting. Mod stack given has been stable for me across a few playthroughs. Any crashes I'd write off as I got the same frequency vanilla.

For a bit more ambience and realistic environments these 3 get my seal of approval.

True Storms by fadingsignal
Darkernights (for true storms) by unforbidable
Visible galaxy by Scapegoats

These 3 mods are game changers really. True storms introduces more realistic and harsh weather. Rain storms are are actually storms. Dust storms....debilitating in a good way. These roll in you shelter up in some way really. Immersive...hell yeah. Its blinding dust storm....you should be going f.... that, I ain't walking out in that. At least on survival mode where walking into enemies is not the best thing sometimes. My case anyway, most favored rolls I do are sneaky snipers.

Darkernights like the name on the tin says give much darker nights. Turn this on and you get very realistic night in Fallout. Even I have gotten lost in sanctuary it can get that dark lol. Boston is fun times really with this at night. And to be honest its because of this mod I actually started to put streetlights in my settlement builds. This mod makes lighting from workstation or even the pip boy make sense and even essential. As vanilla FO4...night is not that much off from day all things considered. Lost in the woods with this mod turned on....Fallout 4 can become a half assed jump scare game someitmes. It has 2 versions....it can run without true storms, use that one if not used. Between these 2 versions there are varying filter levels. I run the darkest one....night is truly night with it.

Visible galaxy puts some nice stars up in the sky of the commonwealth. As its creator wrote up...200+ years of no massive industry, the sky should clear up at night. Stars are beautiful with this mod. Mixes well with darker nights....they really stand out.

TBH these 3 alone is why I have no unmodded play save set I care about. I go to them...say must have trophy. And an hour or 2 later...screw trophies, I can't go on with this vanilla stuff.

Some other fun mods in the collection I have are

holstered weapons by azar

Nice little mostly cosmetic mod, it will show weapons holstered on your char as you walk around. It pulls on generic fires. I usually roll a sniper so I select a generic hunting rifle. this rifle does not show with silencer...which I run. Close enough for me and better than lack of showing vanilla has (feature missed from FO:new vegas for sure).

Also can expand to have a backpack. Some have great graphics. The vault tec 111 one is off the chain imo in terms of presentation and detail. They also give a slight boost to carrying capacity. Me as I run survival a lot....am not the stickler I Used to be about little boosts like this. Its not OP increase, you won't be cleaning out 100's units of crap from a site to haul around with it lol. Immersion...well at least you now have a backpack to pretend to care to show just how the heck you are carrying 10 typewriters lol.

Campsite by Tricky vein.

This mod lets your craft and carry around as much of a portable camp kit as you'd like. I carry around just the sleeping bag. Tent, lantern, cooking fire station...you can go wild really and set up the whole 9 yards. Survival players be advised this has some weight. It isn't light and in survival you need all you can carry lol.

I use the sleeping bag as I roll survival now. You can't get a hard save unless you sleep in a bed. In an ideal world where Bethesda games have no game crashing bugs....I'd not need this. In this world....after you just spent a good chunk of time getting to the end of a complex it sucks when it crashes...or like with the mechanist you can get a bug that never has the mission work right. yeah I sleep for 2 hours and get that hard save now after a few crashes and no where near a settlement (no fast travel in survival).

That stuff does make me envious however especially darker nights in Fallout and Skyrim. In certain areas I'll look at the time thinking it's overcast in Skyrim and it's 1am lol.

However I think if I really wanted to mod I'd build a PC so I wouldn't need any compromise. That way modding and graphic fidelity is only restricted by the hardware I have.

Nexusmods does have a bit more. Nice we have what we have as console slaves though. My issue is I find new mods to run and try out. Was supposed to be in skyrim already lol. Plan on making that the new year eve game for real. I know,a wild NYE night lol. married with kids and doing the traditional Japanese things (soba, a kind of noodle, at the mom-in-laws). Not a party till you drop vibe to the night really lol.

Now that darker nights can be a dual edge sword. it makes a glass cannon sniper start off harder imo. things not by light sources (trash cans burning wood in raider camps) you can't see worth spit. Now later on when you can craft some shadowed light combat armor and lighten it.....you almost feel bad for what you are about to shoot.

I run another mod, think called New-Tek, lets you craft NVG's (or they can be thermal or give HUD like power armour helmet does). Makes night time ops much more enjoyable outside. Some balance as gunners at around level 15 start to use them too since in the lists shared by all. Gunners get nice weapons...and miss less. the nvg's I have on this final playthrough ...many gunners had to pass on for me to find them as I can't use the blueprints with my perk layout right now.

I miss my Boon companion sniper bonus an/or the NCR armour vision from New Vegas...this gets it back in some way. I roll true lone wander now, no companions to use the work around of helmet with HUD trick. Nice for true solo light armour build options mid to late game imo.

There is a nice NCR armour mod as well I have run. Forget exact name, if searched for it will be the one with a lot of hits.

I started Fallout 4 back up in the first time for a long time. I've been exploring some more and trying to figure out what was going on in each dungeon the day the bombs fell. There is so much interesting lore that I missed and a lot of things to discover if you take the time to do a little investigation. Its pretty amazing the amount of detail that they actually put into this game. Its cool to read in terminals about little fights between co workers and look into what they are talking about and finding a legendary item or something.

Bethesda "said" they were going to update it for the PS4 Pro so I've been ignoring the Nuka World DLC hoping they push an update soon. If nothing else I feel the they could leverage the power of the PS4 Pro to smooth out some of the frame rate drops and micro stutter. Maybe that and go a little heavier with the alpha effects or something.

I'm incredibly impressed with the level of detail. I had been going in and reading terminals and yes, it provides so many details to the back story, like in the switchroom, you get info on how the Chinese were developing stealth technology and could hide an entire fleet or how P.A.M predicted a high likelihood that they would initiate a first attack with nukes but the higher ups disputed the findings thinking the Chinese were well aware of Mutual Assured Destruction and wouldn't be that crazy

depending on goals, namely achievement hunting, if you are planning on a new roll on an update if this update happens and have an issue with not being a good player...this run through might be a good one to do the full Nuka world experience. lets you be a future reroll 100% good if so desired.

(hate to do spoilers in not known but)....a full nuka world run will have you be a raider in the commonwealth at some point. This wrecks some faction interactions. Best done on a save you won't care if messed up and a "good" rp type. Be the bad char for a few days, run up the achievements....then on a future playthrough you can go wipe them out right after your intro to NW and stay in good character no issues.

Now me...I embraced my inner raider. makes NW very enjoyable for me really. In time I found the NW raiders to be the least annoying faction you have to deal with really.

You have a choice because you can do the The Open Season quest and kill the leaders. I went that route, because of being a raider in the commonwealth has implications to the settlements that I have high standings in

Patch 1.9 is set to roll out next week. PS4 Pro will see native 1440p with better draw distances and god rays (like Skyrim).

Also the 58gb hi res pack is coming to PC. Which I'm very curious about....recommend specs include a GTX1080 lol. That should look amazing!

good heads up, thnx. Wonders how my mod stacks will do....Mostly graphics so should be okay.

Also hopes it fixes annoying bugs. the light turret bug continues to annoy. You know..the turret lights go out after a bit for some reason. read it can be due to fast travel somewhere and resets on that. Thing is...I roll survival mode these days. I only started "fast travel" last night when I broke down and picked someone to build the crap to get me into the institute, for this roll...did quite a few lol. Lights have gone dark many times before this.

Those not familiar with survival mode all institute teleport does is get you a hop to the institute area. You can teleport out from the institute only to CIT ruins. Still...its centerish of the map so saves some time going from say glowing sea to fincham farm area. half the walk better than a full one anyway. Also a fast way to my DC house when loaded up with stuff . Its where I set up base basically so a god send as it were. Tend to run lone wanderer style...raiders or settlers...I am a bad boss. If they are unhappy...I don't care lol. My pad in DC is nice...all I care about lol.

I'm going to say no to bug fixes. Bethesda is very adamant about maintaining their bugs. Lol. Look at Skyrim! They re released the game at full retail and didn't fix them! One of which broke a quest of mine and I can't progress further in it.

I never played survival but could you step it down a notch, fast travel specifically to fix the bug (don't go anywhere), then set it back to survival or does the bug persist?

At least with Skyrim on XB1 & PC you can download the unofficial patch which fixes most of the game bugs ... Sadly Sony won't allow the unofficial Skyrim Patch on PS4 version :(

Once you leave survival you can't go back.

Way I read it somewhere its the leaving suddenly that fast travel causes that can turn the lights off. One of many theories about it. Probably invalid since no fast travel in survival and just a bug they never fixed. Don't think unofficial patch corrects it either. Tried a few lighting mods they don't fix either. Didn't think they would but figured maybe they'd hit something along the way. lemons into lemonade...I get better lighting options now.

Quick fix is to go into build mode, select and place it back down again. turns in on till next time it happens.

Saw Bethesda's post on this patch, some mystery comment about mod changes. Really hoping one of the mystery mod changes is that crap 2gb goes away. But we have hoped for that in prior patches so not betting the rent money on it.

have hit memory limit issues...Been an on going back and forth. Bethesda says its M$, I was in one forum where a poster contacted M$ and they say its Bethesda. I don't care who is at fault...I just want more mod/save space.

I like that the unofficial patch is available for people but I still find it annoying. I paid Bethesda not the modding community. Even if I was on Xbox I wouldn't be using it because I'd want the achievements.

Trophies and achievements help me exhaust all the game has to offer. Without them I'd beat the main story and be done with it.

This a mixed area. Its Bethesda's modding community that kind of keeps it a afloat. Modders can do the stuff that can't meet their gantt charts.

If Bethesda is to blame for anything its that with this release they made mods turn off achievements. Prior releases...mod away. Still got the chievo's. Why the shift no clue. think it was the die hard achievement people up in arms about the cheapening of the stuff. I'd say fair enough...but all this did was hurt console.

PC as far as I know still has the backdoor it always had. Open console mode, make your changes, exit game, fire it up again and voila...achievements. On PC tilde to access console kills achievements. for that running of the game. restart and its all good. Just make your changes good ones and restart.

Fallout 4 patch that include PS4 Pro support should be available now.

Looking forward to getting home finishing automatron and starting Nuka World FINALLY!

Hopefully Digital Foundry will have a video up soon to point out all the enhancements since devs are fairly vague.
