Preface: These would by and large be Xbox one mods. Many rely on external file support of some kind which Sony is not allowing for whatever reason.
Preface 2: If not aware, and you didn't read the warning the game gives when you turn on mods, mods will disable achievements. To me, not a deal breaker. Others mileage may vary.
Just in case a jolly fat man or whatever spirit of the season gives presents this time of year. Or if not your thing...the sales around this time to hard to pass no matter your stance I would gather lol.
I'd figure I give up a small mod list those interested in their new game...or bitters who played through a few times might find in interesting. Mod stack given has been stable for me across a few playthroughs. Any crashes I'd write off as I got the same frequency vanilla.
For a bit more ambience and realistic environments these 3 get my seal of approval.
True Storms by fadingsignal
Darkernights (for true storms) by unforbidable
Visible galaxy by Scapegoats
These 3 mods are game changers really. True storms introduces more realistic and harsh weather. Rain storms are are actually storms. Dust storms....debilitating in a good way. These roll in you shelter up in some way really. Immersive...hell yeah. Its blinding dust storm....you should be going f.... that, I ain't walking out in that. At least on survival mode where walking into enemies is not the best thing sometimes. My case anyway, most favored rolls I do are sneaky snipers.
Darkernights like the name on the tin says give much darker nights. Turn this on and you get very realistic night in Fallout. Even I have gotten lost in sanctuary it can get that dark lol. Boston is fun times really with this at night. And to be honest its because of this mod I actually started to put streetlights in my settlement builds. This mod makes lighting from workstation or even the pip boy make sense and even essential. As vanilla FO4...night is not that much off from day all things considered. Lost in the woods with this mod turned on....Fallout 4 can become a half assed jump scare game someitmes. It has 2 versions....it can run without true storms, use that one if not used. Between these 2 versions there are varying filter levels. I run the darkest one....night is truly night with it.
Visible galaxy puts some nice stars up in the sky of the commonwealth. As its creator wrote up...200+ years of no massive industry, the sky should clear up at night. Stars are beautiful with this mod. Mixes well with darker nights....they really stand out.
TBH these 3 alone is why I have no unmodded play save set I care about. I go to them...say must have trophy. And an hour or 2 later...screw trophies, I can't go on with this vanilla stuff.
Some other fun mods in the collection I have are
holstered weapons by azar
Nice little mostly cosmetic mod, it will show weapons holstered on your char as you walk around. It pulls on generic fires. I usually roll a sniper so I select a generic hunting rifle. this rifle does not show with silencer...which I run. Close enough for me and better than lack of showing vanilla has (feature missed from FO:new vegas for sure).
Also can expand to have a backpack. Some have great graphics. The vault tec 111 one is off the chain imo in terms of presentation and detail. They also give a slight boost to carrying capacity. Me as I run survival a lot....am not the stickler I Used to be about little boosts like this. Its not OP increase, you won't be cleaning out 100's units of crap from a site to haul around with it lol. Immersion...well at least you now have a backpack to pretend to care to show just how the heck you are carrying 10 typewriters lol.
Campsite by Tricky vein.
This mod lets your craft and carry around as much of a portable camp kit as you'd like. I carry around just the sleeping bag. Tent, lantern, cooking fire station...you can go wild really and set up the whole 9 yards. Survival players be advised this has some weight. It isn't light and in survival you need all you can carry lol.
I use the sleeping bag as I roll survival now. You can't get a hard save unless you sleep in a bed. In an ideal world where Bethesda games have no game crashing bugs....I'd not need this. In this world....after you just spent a good chunk of time getting to the end of a complex it sucks when it crashes...or like with the mechanist you can get a bug that never has the mission work right. yeah I sleep for 2 hours and get that hard save now after a few crashes and no where near a settlement (no fast travel in survival).
