It all depends on where you live. My mom loves Verizon and desperately didn't want to switch to AT&T for the iPhone. We did switch once the second iPhone came out, and now she's noticing all the places where AT&T gives us service and Verizon never did. It all depends on the places you frequent.

Verizon customer service sucks and their insistence on crippling phones is disgusting. I loathe Verizon and counted down the days til I could kick them to the curb. Bluetooth is useless when I can ONLY use it for a headset. I tried to link it to my Mac to put ringtones on my phone and it never never never wanted to cooperate. I refuse to pay $2.99 for a ringtone that's already been edited and doesn't include the part of the song I even want. What a waste.

All my friends had AT&T and would share files with each other over bluetooth while I sat there like a loser with Verizon's crappy phone.

So, all you AT&T haters out there: Would you pick T-Mobile or Sprint or any other company besides AT&T if they had a iPhone or does it go VZW>AT&T>T-Mobile/Sprint ?

I am quite satisfied with AT&T, actually but I would go for Sprint if the iPhone were available on that network, if $99 would still net unlimited voice, data and text messaging.

the thing about AT&T is that it gets significantly better every month. i think the cash flow that the iphone users generate for them is astronomical and has allowed massive upgrades to their network.

I get full 3g bars on my iPhone pretty much anywhere in Ann Arbor, including Pittsfield Township where I live, and Saline...

but.. either the phone is lying, or the 3g network is garbage. There have been countless times (and at this point 3 different iPhones), where sometimes it just never rings. I just get a voicemail alert. It's VERY frustrating.

I haven't had bad service like this since I bought my way out of my Nextel contract.

I live in Macomb and i get full 3G bars everywhere in the city. I also go to college in Ann Arbor and get great service down there.

Strange... =/

First time I've ever seen someone be a fan of both apple and at&t and not go for an iphone! Almost all the people I know who don't have iphone don't have them because they don't want a smartphone at all (don't want to pay for data) or because they don't like AT&T. I've yet to meet someone who didn't find the actual iphone itself pretty incredible.

It's a personal choice, just want a do a little more than the iPhone lets me do. But with an iPod Touch and a blackberry, it's just smooth sailing :)

Fare thee well Verizon, I hardly knew ye.

Although our relationship lasted over four years of service agreement contracts, I’ve decided to move on. You never dropped a call for me, your charges were always well within reason, and your customer service was nothing less than top-notch. However, you couldn’t give me what I wanted.

Now I’m with another carrier, but more importantly I’m with the mobile device that I waited so long for you to provide; the iPhone. Sure AT&T’s service is spotty and I’ve already dropped more calls in two weeks than I ever have with you. Yes, surfing Safari on 3G drains my battery faster than a ’87 Volvo with the headlights left on. But I finally have an iPhone! And it’s beautiful!

Yes it has it’s downfalls (AT&T and battery life), but it’s also an iPod, a camera, a browser, a calendar/planner (that I can actually use), and pretty much any thing else that I need it to be thanks to the App Store. You had your chance. Apple pitched an offer to you, but you couldn’t do it. You wanted too much, and now you’ve lost me.

It’s interesting how things work out sometimes. Goodbye Verizon.

I was with Verizon for 6 years. The service was always dependable. I recently left Verizon, purchased n iphone and here I am.

I was excited when they announced the Blackberry Storm and immediately ordered one. however, they couldn't deliver and whenever I called for updates I was always given different delivery dates. Verizon could not explain why I was given so many different dates. They totally messed up my order but I gave them plenty of opportunity to fix it. More than once I explained that, if necessary, I would move to AT&T. Just get the darn order right. Well they didn't and it never seemed to matter much that I may move to an iphone.

I've had my iphone for approximately 4 weeks and love it. I was concerned about the business useability for email etc because I was so used to having a Blackberry. Needless to say, the iphone shines through for all of my uses. My only regret is that I didn't make the move from verizon before.

I think this thread speaks wonders for the iPhone and for at&t for snagging it up at the first chance.

People are flocking to at&t from verizon (a supposed superior carrier) for the iPhone.... But how many people do you see flocking to verizon from at&t (a supposed inferior carrier) for the storm. or any other phone for that matter.

Say what you want about at&t's sevice. They are a smart business. And to think verizon turned the iphone down... HA oh man are they kicking themselves now....

That is exactly what I am thinking.

About 30% of the 3G launch buyers came from another carrier. 47% of those are from Verizon. So about 14% of iPhone 3G buyers at first came from Verizon.

Verizon still gains more customers than ATT, percentage-wise. Verizon still makes more money because of having more loyal contract customers. And ATT took almost a billion dollar short term hit because of subsidizing the 3G. Verizon's not hurting, and they don't have to share with Apple.

Verizon just had the ten millionth download of its Shazaam music id version over the past year or so. For dumb phones owners, that's astonishing.

True, but the difference is, a lot of Verizon customers just won't leave no matter what.

Verizon has the best service but their phones are just old, crippled, and unattractive. The only attractive phones on Verizon is the Storm and Dare.
