Hi, I noticed that whenever I force the laptop to shutdown by pressing the power key continuously for a few seconds, the machine generates fart-like sound when turning off. This only happens to MBP 16". What is happening?

Well I’d hate to state the obvious that forcibly shutting down a computer is not good for it. Now the idea of it making a farting noise is leaving me speechles. So many things go through my mind that I probably can’t post in these forms 😂😂... You must record a video of this

I don't think it is an issue, I am sure I have heard that noise before and I do believe the sound is related to the fact you have forced it to shut down rather than doing it properly.

Could it be that that CPU is so powerful that forcing the machine to shut down interrupted with the fans suddenly and unusual farting noise came out from the vent? It has happened to my current and previously defective MBP 16". I think you can reproduce this easily.

Actually, one girl in the office does it all the time, even going from desk to meetings she will force it to shutdown with the power button. I have explained, just close the lid, go to your meeting, open the lid. All I got was an "ok". But still does it.

Why force shut down your computer? I would only do that if it was frozen and I had no other option

The current one behaved abnormally one so I did that. The previous one was defective. It could not wake from sleep so I had to force it to shut down and rebooted.

Post a video, please. I would find it pleasurable to hear that "fart-like" sound. I might add it to my "collection of weird computer noises"

Not everyone has the intelligence or reasoning skills to comprehend basic things. I used to be surprised by this but now I just keep moving.

It's not a bug or a fart, just a feature of Raspberry PiHole DNS (Do Not Shutdown)

I'll show myself out...
