Hey, I recently bought an 2006 Mac Pro 1.1. I´ve upgraded it to Yosemite, also changed for 8 core Xeon and put GeForce 750 Ti to it. Added an SSD too. But only thing that really bothers me are slow RAMs and that got me thinking, what if I buy RAM board from 3.1 2008 Mac Pro and put it into my Mac? So far as images look, they are similar. Do you think it´ll be to much for a power supply, is this even realistic?

You can put 800MHz FB-DIMM memory in Mac Pro 1.1/2.1 but it will run at 667 MHz because that is FSB speed of Woodcrest and Clowertown CPUs that those Mac Pros support. You can even mix 667 and 800 MHz modules, but either way the memory will run at 667 MHz.

Thanx for a response, that´s a shame I really thought it can support faster RAM. Although thank you very much. :)

    Not only Mac Pro.....iMac 2008: 667 to 800MHz SO-DIMM DDR2...difference = zero.
