I had to buy it back in 8th grade for my algebra honors course. I've used it through high school and college math courses. However, I've been using it more as a financial calculator in my finance and accounting courses over the past few years.

I prefer this calculator over other financial calculators because everything can be seen on the screen. I hate having to do 1 step at a time and/or not being able to see my previously entered numbers.

I know what I'm doing in most calculus and finance related problems, so I usually do most of my math mentally and the 83 helps me organize my mind a little bit better than most calculators.

TVM Solver.... a time saver.

Ti83, I've only seen those a couple of times. The school checks them out to students who need to borrow a graphing calculator.

That Ti-83 plus looks really good, a LOT better than the Ti-83 Plusses I'm used to seeing when I see them. It even looks a bit better (a lot better) than the Ti-84s I'm used to seeing XD

Happy 30th birthday to the HP-12C. Almost unheard of for something like that to still be in production almost exactly like it was in the early 80s (the only difference is they changed battery types). More impressively still, look around and count the multitude of 80s Voyager series (10,11,12,15,16-C) still in fine working order today. Pity nobody builds a calculator like an 80s Hewlett-Packard anymore (plus it's fun that the 80s ones [like my 15C] were made in Oregon, as opposed to China, Singapore, etc...)

Rumor has it that the 12 is getting a special 30th anniversary edition this summer, along with a limited re-release of the 15 :)

I have not used a hand-held calculator for years because my phone has one and when I am at my desk, the desktop or on-line calculators are way better. I like online calculators because as I move from one computer to another, they work the same and I don't have to install anything. My favorites are web2.0calc.com and pascalc.com but there are many to choose from.

HP with RPN, by a mile (or is that a kilometer?)

I bought two HP 32 S II calculators to keep one as a spare in case I wore out the first one.
