Blue-black? I don't really understand how black can look blue, or vice versa...

"jet black" is not as black as "blue-black" for whatever reason. it [jet-black] has no blue tones and thus sort of reflects a reddish hue in the light. it tends to fade into dark brown.
blue-black comes across as a darker and more of a true black. it doesn't look blue really, just deeper and darker black. <shrugs> it's a bit odd but i've seen the evidence with my own eyes. jet-black looks more natural however.

I'm a pure natural blonde. And I mean BLONDE. Almost platium (but I've NEVER dyed it).
But I like brown or black hair on guys, I'm not a fan of blonde haired guys

wow, we are one odd group to have voted red as the majority.

Technically, we voted brown as the majority. Red shades were all lumped together in one category, while the browns were sub-divided. Add all the votes for brown together and they are more than those for the redheads.

My vote still languishes near the bottom...

Not dissimilar to using 'rich black' in cmyk. btw Veronica in the Archie comics was blue-black.

Hmm, so a quarter of you prefer redheads? I see I'll have my work cut out for me to chase away spotty adolescent boys when my girls are older.

The baby is too young for us to know exactly what her hair will be like, but going by her eyebrows she'll be similar to her older sister, who has the most beautiful hair I've ever seen. It's mainly golden blonde with a subtle red (not carrot top ginger) streak through it. We've been asked many times why we coloured her hair.

OK, about the 'blue black' conversation....


Hair is made up of 3 colored parts... either blue, red, or yellow. People have all varying amounts of these molecules in their hair, black headed people have much more blue, brown have a bunch of them all, and blonde have much more yellow.

'BLUE-BLACK' hair comes from having MUCH or almost all blue molecules.

I'm not making this up, there is actual shampoos you can get that add blue molecules to your hair. so, there you go.

I like black or really dark hair, however the person I married has reddish brown hair. As do I.

The only color that I find unattractive as a hair color is blond.
