Don't really eat ice cream (have that lactose intolerance thing), but I've always been very fond of coffee flavor. Seems highly underrated.

Coconut sorbet is also extremely tasty. Too bad I can never seem to find it anymore....

Yeah.
My brother's in Miramar.

Back on topic.
Rush Munro's Hokey Pokey in Hastings (NZ).
... or maybe their Rum & Raisin
... or their Maple Walnut ... or ... or

Another vote for Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia. As far as somewhat "normal" flavors go, definitely Chocolate Chip Mint.

Blue Bell's chocolate covered cherries ice cream.

Not sure how many people are aware of Blue Bell since it is made primarily in a creamery in a small Texas town, but if you are passing through the areas shown below, you should really try it.

My favorite ice cream is a very easy one to answer. It's banana, yum. Makes my mouth water. Whenever I'm near a place that sells ice cream, that's what I check to see if it's available. :)

Dark Chocolate with Marshmellows from Maggie Moos Creamery. They make their ice cream fresh everyday in the store, and its a create your own style just like Coldstones. There is one right next to my office buliding, so I love walking down and getting a cup before I go home....sooo good!

Bluebell is known as "blue bunny" in other parts of the country, IIRC.

Actually, my orchestra director is from Brenham (bluebell town) and I tell all the freshmen that he got a scholarship in an ice cream eating contest hosted by bluebell. Usually, they believe me and ask him about it.
ahahahha goooood times!!

but, I loves me the SOY ice cream! So good and so milk-free! YUM!

We make our own ice cream where I work, and it's really rich and creamy. 1Quart cream, 8 egg yolks, 1 cup of sugar and vanilla bean (or any fruit puree or flavoring you could think of). We make it into a custard then freeze it in the ice cream maker.

My favorites: crumbled assorted cookies in vanilla
raspberry
chocolate and vanilla
pistachio

I love blue bell/blue bunny! They sell it at Walmart in NJ.

Sherbet junkie here. Does that count as ice cream?

Yes, I think that it counts Doctor Q. A nice sorbet to cleanse the palate.
;)

Massachusetts consumes more ice cream than any other state in the US. If you're ever in Harvard Square, MA, you have to experience Herrall's ice cream, which used to be Steve's ice cream (Steve Herrall that is), he's the guy who invented putting candy in ice cream, or smush-ins as they call it. And believe me, that place knows how to make ice cream. Their cookies and cream is pretty amazing. Plus the store is an old bank, so you can eat in the vault...bonus!

As for store bought, I'm actually pretty into Starbucks java chip. I know I know, its starbucks. I didn't think it'd be good either. Although it does seem like they're getting better at making dessert than coffee these days.

I second that, nothing comes close to this, especially that baskin robbins stuff, (vomits) If you ever come across it jump on it (well not literally)

i'm a loyal ben and jerry's employee. i get to eat as much of the stuff as i want, pretty much, so i'm pretty familiar with the 35 or so flavours we get at my shop. my favourites are coconut almond fudge chip, NY super fudge chunk, and oatmeal cookie chunk, with a nod to sweet cream and cookies.

I did head out to france this summer though, and my girlfriend and i found quite a gem. If ever you visit Grenoble which is up in the alps, near italy and switzerland, look for la Maison Gonzalez. Beats anything i've ever had around here, hands down. They've got 90 flavours of ice creams and sorbets, all made on location with many special local ingredients. They had, well pretty much any of the regular things you could imagine, all sorts of amazing fruits, tea flavours like Bergamotte, liqueurs like amaretto, rhum, Chartreuse which is a local liquor made from the chartreuse plant and yes, that's where the colour of the same name comes from (that flavour is my favourite). They had champagne (really surprisingly good, could really taste the alcohol, and it was a pure pure white)... they had cognac, balsamic, figue, tomato, tarragon, garlic.... you get the idea. I had really meant to take a picture of their flavour board, but they were closed on my last day there... and I'll never rest until i go back!!

okay here we go, found a little bit on the net. Here are some more flavours:

Kiwi, coing, thym, goyave, yaourt, tomate, fleur de lait, sirop d'érable, chocolat blanc, tiramisu, pain d 'épice, nougat, banane, violette, basilic, griotte, miel, plombières, Bailey's, cannelle, eau de rose, noix de cajou, irish coffee, litchi, mandarine, marron, mûre, romarin, lavande, papaye, champagne, groseille, gingembre, cacahuète, réglisse, pamplemousse, fleur d'oranger, myrtille, verveine, concombre, avocat, thym...

(sorry its in french, i'll use the dashboard translator!)

Kiwi, quince, thyme, guava, yoghourt, tomato, flower of milk, maple syrup, white chocolate, tiramisu, bread D ' spice, nougat, banana, violet, basil, morello cherry, honey, plombières, Bailey' S, groove, water of pink, cashew nut, irish coffee, litchi, tangerine, chestnut, blackberry, rosemary, lavender, papaw, champagne, currant, ginger, peanut, liquorice, grapefruit, flower of orange tree, bilberry, vervain, cucumber, lawyer, thyme.

Lets take a moment to point out the hilarious translations:
cinamon=groove? i'm down with that...
rosewater=water of pink
avocado=lawyer

Haagen Daaz - Vanilla Swiss Almond

There is/was a small specialty ice cream company company called "Out of a Flower", had pink packaging, used to be able to find it at Whole Foods, but they stopped carrying it.
They had awesome flavors, such as Rose Geranium, French Lavender, Jasmine Green Tea, rose petal sorbet and grapefruit tarragon etc...
"Out of a Flower" was spotlighted on Food Network also

You can find their products at The Pasta Shop (on College Avenue in Oakland, and also on Fourth Street in Berkeley), and occasionally at other gourmet-conscious stores, such as Whole Foods and Andronico's. They are definitely worth a try. If you can't find them locally, check in with the main company to find out where to get them.
