I know that but my coach always tells us to avoid nikes for running.

my old high school coach tells the current kids that also, but he knows i run in nikes sometimes, and tells them that too. it all depends on the person. not everyone is the same. nike has the waffle tread, which is how nike got started in the first place.

for people that have some injuries, like myself, having a shoe that is more of a running/cross-trainer mix is better. nike has a few of these

my favourite running shoes are adidas. I buy everything adidas, and dont ask why :)

I have never worn nikes or other brands trainers. perhaps it's the first impressions. also, my adidas trainers last for a long time, it's still relatively new (not that i dont use it at all, but its washed now and then).

i think that the adidas supernova are a nice range. go check out at your local shoe store :p

If you go to a dedicated store, they should have something. :) And if not, then a proper store will order it for you and allow you to try them on-- yes, without you paying.

The store I went to was Metrosport (yes, I realize very localized) and they didn't MARK UP the prices, they were just full MSRP. Yes, I could have (and did find) the same model shoes for cheaper elsewhere-- but to me, it is priceless to be accurately fitted and receive amazing customer service.

Yep, I have paid a tiny bit more in the past for runners that were fitted well by a knowledgeable staff. Much better than saving $10, getting a poorly fitting shoe, and not feeling comfortable. What would the extra $5-10 have bought you anyway.....2 coffees at Starbucks? Who cares!

I now own these bad boys. http://www.brooksrunning.com/prod.php?k=23675&p=BSI41199 Due to the colours, mine look way more funky, though.

They're Brooks. I usually ran in New Balance, but went for a change the last time. They're a great fit.

Same here! I switched to Brooks on my last pair.

What was really amazing was when I went back to my running store because the shoe I bought wasn't quite fitting right and they showed me how to lace the shoe differently to take care of the problem. Get that kind of knowledge from Foot Locker!!!
