Favorite Whisky

I love that in TX, Houston area specifically, weller special reserve is readily available at retail pricing. I bought a 1.75 for $33 to drink here and a 750 for $19 to put in my suitcase.
 
Bruichladdich Black art 5 is nice just got a bottle at Christmas. I have so many that I have lost count and interest in many at this point 🙂
 
Finally found a bottle at a somewhat reasonable price.

Went to the store earlier today and got myself a bottle of Jura 12 Year Old Single Malt because a friend recommended it to me some time back so I thought I should try it. Not that there needs to be a particular reason to buy a bottle of scotch every now and again. Anyway, the second I get home from the store I get called in to work, so while I'm currently at work the poor bottle is sitting unopened at home in the dark, all by his lonesome.

Are you guys familiar with it, is it any good?

Yes - a good Island single malt whisky. The Jura has recently been re-launched. They used to (still do?) mature it in ex bourbon casks and then finish it off in sherry casks. Nice dram. Mind you I like all whisky, some are better than others though, 😉 especially cask strength.

Yes, we've been getting acquainted today, and I'm liking it quite a bit. Then again, like you, I haven't come across that many whiskys (whiskies?) that I don't like!

It’s actually very good. It obviously has more character than maker’s or even 46. I heard that each batch is customizable with a combination of 5 different staves added to the finish resulting in 1001 possible combinations. This one has the right balance of sweet and caramel along with woodiness and smoke. Also, barrel proof makes a huge difference as usual for me. Highly recommended for the price.

Picked these up today. Taylor was on sale for $40. Woodford Oat is supposed to be in high demand. The 1792 full proof is a barrel select. And the owner gave me a Blanton’s display stand as a gift.
