Where and how do you manage to buy bottles at MSRP? They're almost sold out before they ship to most stores I check into often. Most of the remaining stock is in excess of a grand or two.are you talking pounds or euro? either way, that's relatively cheap. I pay US $180 for 20 and $230 for 23.

Think you had one too many this evening. I was asking about Pappy.Michter’s was at Total Wine - luck of the draw. The owl was shipped to me from South Carolina. It was $300, which I thought was retail, but someone on another forum posted that they got it for $129. Dunno, the Rye is $180 and the regular bourbon is $269. In any case, this one is Smokey and “young”. Not a great value for taste, but ok to have as a collection...

I have really started enjoying whiskey over the last few years. According to some industry experts, they now see it fast becoming the new social drink and profits indicate this. Bourbon and whiskey companies are seeing accelerated growth in recent years because of the cost of other beverages.
So what is your favorites?
Here is mine.
Knob Creek is worth checking out. +1 on Bulleit, although the rye isn’t a bourbon it’s very smooth and still worth trying.I love scotch single malt whisky. But am interested in trying some good bourbons that are not your generic Jack Daniels etc. Any recommendations?
Anyone here take a seasonal approach to their choice of spirits? Gin in the summer, dark rum in the winter, that sort of thing?
Not me. Scotch year 'round.Anyone here take a seasonal approach to their choice of spirits? Gin in the summer, dark rum in the winter, that sort of thing?
Nope. I've found that I'm leaning into the whiskey's and discovered last winter that eggnog is 1000% better with bourbon rather than rum. The fact is though, if it's good, I'll probably drink it. My wife gifted me a Rob Vices 6 month subscription a few years ago and the first box had an outstanding bottle of tequila. I'm not a tequila lover but good lord that was an amazing spirit.Anyone here take a seasonal approach to their choice of spirits? Gin in the summer, dark rum in the winter, that sort of thing?
Right, yeah I was wondering what kind of connections you could possibly have to get Pappy for so damn cheap. LOLLOL sorry. Thought you were referring to my last post. I have no source for Pappy close to retail. I can get them for a small discount over the super marked up prices, but I refuse. (Pappy 20 for $1700, Pappy 23 for $2200)

I am and have been a Bourbon/ Rye man. My current favorites are Bulliet (both Bourbon and Rye), some of the local Hudson Valley stuff (Tullithtown), if making an Old Fashioned or other cocktail, Evan Williams works in that situation.
I'm a simple guy, I like scotch and my favourite is Johnnie Walker red label. I've tried different ones but that seems to be the best one for my taste buds. I'm not a connoisseur though so my opinion doesn't matter.
I haven't tried the Rye, I didn't care for the Bourbon though.Have you tried the Black Dirt Rye from Warwick? It's become my favorite rye period.
