Hope this isn’t a repeat question. But I was just in the Apple store app and did my configuration for the iPhone X I want to preorder and on the purchase screen the button is obviously faded out. But I added it to my favorites.

Will I be able to easily just click that in my favorites and preorder right from there with my configuration selected already or will I have to start the process over?

That’s awesome thank you for the quick reply. So I essentially did all the hard work and just have to hit add to cart as soon as it goes live?
Not really. All it did was save your configuration. Once the preorders go live, you’ll still have to go through your carrier’s authentication information which shouldn’t take that long, probably around 45 seconds. Then it’ll add to cart and you can place your order.

Any idea if you can order more than one phone? I thought I saw this discussed before but can’t find it. I want to order for me and my wife at the same time, if possible.

What is Carrier's authentication information? If you pick a carrier, that carrier's phone will be shipped right? What authentication information needs entering?

For me (on ATT Next) it requires phone number, zip code, then last four of SS. After than, I choose what Next plan I want to use and then choose that my current phone is in good shape to trade in. Then it’ll add to cart.

Is ATT Next purchase from non-Apple company app?

You cannot order more than one carrier activated iPhone in your order. If you try the app will ask you to remove one before it will allow you to check out. It is only possible to buy more than one if those devices are on different carriers in the same order.

You can order two in the future with the sim free option, but that option won't be available at launch.

I believe the process is easier for the people that are just buying it outright?

Yea no...

If you're buying outright you're bypassing all the carrier crap

No wonder why you guys get it so late after the launch date... thousands and thousands of stock SKUs moving past while you're still 'inputting carrier info'... just wait until the next day

Okay, so put all money one time and don't finance or carrier upgrade.

You still will need to put in phone number, ssn, and zip code to order the phone (unless getting the t-mobile one). It then verifies through whichever carrier’s servers, and then is placed in your bag. You can try this with an iPhone 8 right now, again excluding the sim free version and t mobile one.

Social Security Number to buy a phone? Sounds serious...

for some reason my zip and social security number are already saved in. Don't have to enter anything.

AT&T will also require the account pin / passcode (not the same thing as your password for logging into the AT&T site).

I have another question.
The blue "add to cart" button is faded out. But what will happen when it goes live? Will it automatically fade in or do I have to go back and forth to "refresh the button"?

I'd imagine it will just fade in, but be ready to open/close the app a few times, or the possibility of having to go through the process the usual way and forget the favourite completely. You just never know!

I've found an answer in another thread that I did not think about, but I think this is it:
The whole store simply will be down ahead of the launch. So it comes up again --> you'll be able to order.

You will need to enter your account information. And then have to wait for it to be authenticated.

You must Enter your Zip, las 4 of SS and the one everyone is forgetting about, your PIN.

Once all of it is verified then it’ll let you add to cart.

Tonight will be an absolute **** show ladies and gentlemen.

People do speed runs on the 8+ and day it’ll be okay but fail to realize that thwir servers aren’t being bogged down by 50 million users all at once.

Tmobile model, which is the one I’m getting, will be the absolute easiest. No carrier verification, SSN, zip code entry, or anything. Just select from favorites, hit “Continue”, Pay with Apple Pay, TouchID and done.

Of course, it will also be the quickest to sell out because of this reason, I’m sure.

One thing we should all remember... it won't be the end of the world if we don't get a November 3rd date tonight. But it's worth trying!!!

It really sounds like IUP pre approved users have a leg up since carrier and credit check has already been performed and all they have to do once pre orders up is to just confirm the order and choose in store or delivery.

Is there a way to buy outright which doesn't require carrier information from Apple?
