Oh, and I just went through your post on the Apple Support, and in case you didn't read all these posts trashing the preferences did nothing to remedy the issue.

Have you tried making a symbolic link to where your folder really is?

That way you're happy and FCE is happy

EDIT: I just realized that this will have the same net effect... in that you'll still have another folder visible. The upshot would be that when you open the folder in either location you'd see all your files.
