guys how do I take screenshot of my desktop in Mac

 please don't hurt me :D

use the program "grab." it should be in the utilities folder under applications. it will let you capture the whole screen or just part of it.

there are other ways to do this, but this is easiest because it is a free program that is included in the OS.

never be afraid to ask around here..... we very rarely hurt people ;)

You can easily do it by hitting command+shift+3 and the file will show up on your desktop.

Just curious

Thank you for the cmd+shift+3 help... but I'm curious why some people post small thumbnails and some post nice viewable images. I know you can click the thumbnails to see them... but I'm curious if there is some technique to post a more noticable image....

Irie

PS - THANK YOU for those double wide links - that site is REALLY nice! I'm not quite ready to let my coral go... but soon enough... I'll change...

The reason for posting thumbnails and not the full image is mostly to spare those on slower connections, but it's also because someone browsing with a smaller screen doesn't appreciate the 2560 x 1600 pixel screen shot from your spiffy new 30" screwing up all the tables making it so they have to scroll to the right to read everything.

Oh, and people are here to look at the desktops, so you don't really need to make them more noticable (it's not like it's a contest to see who gets the most comments on their desktop background). I can see the thumbnails just fine, if I want to see what your individual icons are I'll click on the thumbnail to see it bigger.
