I like the mod you made to the in the menubar and have seen you do similar things with the in other posts, as well. How do you do it? I know that you use Silk to change the font used in the menubar, does this also allow you to change the color/design of the Apple or is that something else?

Hmmmm, you're right. I got my version from another website (not here). There's a guy who posted a better quality picture below mine. After comparing them I can see my copy is a bit blurred in some places and contains some dreaded jpeg artefacts.

The font is either Helvetica or Helvetica Neue.
