New iMac

After a year plus of researching..... Waiting for new iMac.... Constantly viewing these forums I have finally taken the plunge and ordered last night...... Very excited & can't wait for it to arrive after all this time.

Spec

27 inch 3.2Ghz i5
8GB Ram
1TB fusion
GTX680 2GB RAM
Apple Magic Mouse & trackpad
Wireless keyboard

Plus!!

Apple battery charger
Apple care
Apple USB SuperDrive

Delivery dates 03 April -12 April

This means it could be nearly 7 weeks until I receive my iMac from when I ordered...... But like many have said what's a few more weeks after all these months.

Lastly I now need to consider an appropriate backup option.... Not sure whether to go down time capsule route or a separate NAS media route!

Also need to consider whether to buy an UPS unit, & if so what one...... So many mixed reviews on cyber power, or stick with apple & get the ibox?!?

Decisions decisions but overall pleased with having finally done it!!

Congratulations! I agree a lot of decision making involved and that's with relatively few options for the computer itself. If I'm not mistaken you ordered the most popular set up and the one many Apple Stores are now stocking. If you have access to a store you may want to keep an eye out. The wait is difficult.

Ordered Feb 7th with the following configuration:

• 3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
• 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM-2X4GB
• 3TB Fusion Drive
• NVIDIAGeFrc GTX 680MX 2G GDDR5
• APPLE MAGIC MOUSE
• Apple Num Kybd(Eng)+User's Gd

Still processing, but my CC was charged the total amount on 2/22/13. I'm hoping that the 3-4 days from CC charge to ship actually happens and I get my iMac early next week (or maybe even late this week!). I'll let you all know when the status changes.

Certainly a good turn around the time if that is the case!!
Pleased for you!!
Did you ring them up at all throughout to nudge them along?!?

Nope. I did call a week ago to see about changing it from the 3TB fusion to the 768GB flash (because of the price drop), but they said I would have to cancel the order and place a new order (with the 3-4 week ship time again). I decided against it. Didn't really need the 768, but thought about it.

My iMac (ordered Feb. 1st) arrived this morning at 7am. It was shipped on Friday 23rd.

Turnaround times seem quite good, so you guys that are still waiting should have yours soon.

Good to know! So have you gotten into it yet or did you have to go to work? :(

There may be a personal day coming when mine comes in. :)

Jimmy, I agree with the above, your order is as per the sometimes stocked high end spec model and although us Brits don't have the same stock levels as the good old U S of A they do come in from time to time. Speak to your local dealer and see if they will put your name on one as and when they get one! Baring in mind these seem to be taken by the business team though so you have to ask very nicely! That's what they did for me but I was a business customer and they did cockup my original order but in the end I got mine a month earlier than planned :D

I'm ordering mine later this week. I'm guessing early April for me? -.-

I'd hope not, if anything I would hope that Apple start to get a grip on their supply chain however if you're from outside the USA you may well be correct in your estimate.

Ok then, so if everything is fair I should be getting mine a week today... :p

It's a silly policy for someone who has been waiting in the queue for a considerable amount of time to have to wait again for a change on a machine which hasn't even been built yet.

On a similar note, I wanted to change from Magic Mouse to Magic Trackpad but once again I was told that I would have to join the queue at the end again so I decided against it.

The iBox is a rip off, £180 in the UK with only 2 outputs. Get yourself an APC Back-UPS on sale here for £139.99 for the 900VA version (4 Battery Outputs and 4 Surge Protected outputs). Works with mac, and a darn site better value for money than the iBox.

I was being a spaz and reloading my Apple Store app about every 5 minutes in between reading threads and mine just changed to shipped! I still don't know where it is shipping from, but it is being shipped by FedEx.

Ordered February 2
CC Authorized February 20
Preparing February 24
Shipped February 25

Interestingly enough Apple listed my SoundSticks as shipped early Sunday morning. However, the UPS site stated they just printed out the shipping label about 3:00 p.m today (Monday) about 36 hours later.

Mine went from processing, to preparing, to shipped all in one day. Yay :)

Ordered Feb 25th from Adorama

I was going back and forth about what to order and finally took the plunge with Adorama.
I got a good deal I figure plus some extras from a very reputable shop. I have never had any problems ordering any of my camera equipment from them. It doesn't bother me that they are not the primary ones I would be dealing with if the mac had a problem. That is what the Apple Care is for. Either way I would rather be dealing with Apple for any potential problems that could arise.

Ordered a Bundle that includes:
27" iMac, i7 3.4GHz, 8gb Ram (to be upgraded), 3TB Fusion HDD, 680MX 2G, Wireless Keyboard, Magic Mouse.
-3 year extended Apple Care
-Parallels Desktop 7 OEM (I am trying to figure out if it comes with an upgrade to P8 serial number included since I already own P7, but it isn't a really big deal since I usually upgrade when I find a $30 dollar deal to upgrade.
-free shipping obviously.
$2765 out the door.

I would have liked to try a track pad, but that didn't come in the Bundle. Since I already have a couple of Magic mice, I may sell the one that comes with this Mac and get a Trackpad on eBay.
I also plan on getting an external Bluray drive since the superdrive in my mini conked out. I need one to convert my dvd and CD collections mostly. Occasionally, it is nice to rent a BD for family movie night as well.

There is no delivery date set, but they said I should get my iMac in a few weeks, which I already know. They charge the CC $25 bucks and only charge the rest upon shipment.

Tried to add mine earlier, but I didn't see it.

Earlier today I tried to add my order, but it didn't seem to take for some reason.
Don't know what I did wrong, I will try again.

Seems like European delivery times are now under a month? That would be nice - do people think that's true?

Got my entry in the Spreadsheet.

Finally, was able to get my stuff in the spreadsheet. Hope it helps.
It seems like 3 weeks seems to be about the time people are tending to get their machines in the US. I hope they are ramping up a bit and I get mine in a couple of weeks.

2-3 weeks is about the same amount of time I waited 8 years ago for my 1st generation Mac mini.

Ah, I ordered on January 29th, so not quite a February order.
I called in and did a special order so I could get the magic trackpad instead of the stupid magic mouse.

Thanks for the quick reply! I initially ordered from B&H on Feb 14th -- But then ended up reordering from apple directly cause I was afraid of the turn around time -- but looks like it's about the same lol -- lost only about six days -- so not a fatal mistake :) -- congrats on your shipment bro!

Fremont or Sacramento?

Now that my iMac is shipping I can see it is from California. Interesting though is that the "Ship (P/U)" is from Freemont, but the first tracking is from Sacramento. Maybe Apple is sending truckloads to Sacramento, because normally there would be some tracking information at/between Freemont and Sacramento. Are they sending whole truckloads that won't track until they get to the main hub in Sacramento? Since Freemont closed in '92 and Elk Grove closed in '94 I wonder which factory is doing the assembly? I'm just curious as both places were part of my old stomping grounds. I'm really stoked some more American workers are in the assembly chain.
