February Orders of iMac 27"

just an update -- i ended up canceling my apple.com order for the iMac and opted to buy it in store. got lucky and managed to find the exact one i ordered in store -- so anyone who is waiting -- start calling around and see if any stores have the one you want.

on a side note, even if the online stock says that it wont be available at your store till a later date, it's a lie in some cases. the stores i checked online said they had none in stock but a quick phone call to my local stores proved it wrong. they do in fact have the popular configurations available in stores in some cases. so give it a try -- good luck everyone -- i'll update the spreadsheet!

Just did the same thing myself. Ordered on the 22nd with configuration:

3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM-2X4GB
1TB Fusion Drive
NVIDIAGeFrc GTX 680MX 2G GDDR5
MAGIC TRACKPAD
Apple WL Kybd (English)+UG
COUNTRY KIT

Ship date was 3/19 - 3/26

I found out it was in stock at my local store on Monday night. I was very nervous about canceling it since it was a little uncertain if I would be able to move some money around to get it before the store sold the two they had in stock, my original purchase amount was still tied up in a pending state. Fortunately everything worked out well and I picked it up yesterday morning. It was a little stressful there for a bit but so nice to have it so much sooner.

Out of interest does anyone know why the Apple orders from the States are fulfilled much quicker than an order from the UK or Europe?

Maybe Apple is sending truckloads to Sacramento, because normally there would be some tracking information at/between Freemont and Sacramento. Are they sending whole truckloads that won't track until they get to the main hub in Sacramento? Since Freemont closed in '92 and Elk Grove closed in '94 I wonder which factory is doing the assembly? I'm just curious as both places were part of my old stomping grounds. I'm really stoked some more American workers are in the assembly chain.

Received mine today! Ordered 2nd feb. :)

Half way through doing data transfer from my old windows laptop....only 4 hours and 7 minutes to go:(
 
I put my order in Feb 3 and I am still stuck in processing. I called yesterday and they said everything is on track. They did give me a free superdrive wich is nice.

Ordered on the 4th and still processing and not due for a week or two yet. How have you managed that? Lol.
 
Ordered mine on feb 9th, still processing and my card has yet to be charged.. Seems like some people are receiving theirs faster then others, kinda weird.

How are you folks receiving free stuff from calling? I called yesterday and they said it was on track... This is feeling like forever!! Haha

I ordered on the 8th and I am in the same ballpark. Delivery might depend on your configuration too. I have not called just trying to be patient but if not here next week I will call and scream and maybe get something in return.

I have around 100gb of music and 80 gb of photos. I have left everything else like old documents, bookmarks, desktop settings and that kind of thing. I wanted to start a fresh.

It is a lot easier than I thought, just run the migration assistant that comes up when you first switch the imac on. Then download it to the computer you are transferring from then plug an Ethernet cable between the two. It then gives you the options of what you would like to transfer.

Still 30 mins to go, 6 and 1/2 hours so far!

It was shipped on 22nd and was due for delivery on 28th. Lucky I checked my status this morning because there was a UPS tracking number on there and when I looked it said it was out for delivery. :D
Nice surprise to wake up to!

Note that I am not whining anything on waiting. I am aware of the situation and I made my jump. I have my right to ask for discount or freebies after I blow 3k on a computer, and they have their right to deny. What is it with you people trying to bash over other people who are trying to find some deals. If you don't want it, its your choice. Don't act like asking freebies or discounts are dragging Apple to the ground just because you are an apple fan. Sorry op for derailing your thread. P.S. I did get a free SuperDrive after talking to a customer service. Thanks Apple for their awesome customer support, ordered February 14 and still haven't been charged yet.

You do have a right to ask for freebies - but ask yourself - is that morally the right thing to do? And you're not "finding a deal" you're asking apple for compensation for something that you knew about in advance. There's a difference.

Oh, and for your information, I'm not a fanboy, but thanks for the insult anyway. I just don't believe in this compensation culture that you seem to love so much.

Point me where it is morally wrong? Is it morally right if apple asking me 3000 for a device that we all knew worth 2000 in the market? The difference between me and apple is they make the asking upfront and I made the counter bid. Obviously you have never involved in any type of business transaction. Compensating culture? Wake up, this is free market, our country is driven by it. So, every trade Wall Street made is morally wrong? Every credit card discount you receive is morally wrong? You have the right to be an ignorant being and pay whatever the sticker price says. But please, stop judging other people just because you are ignorant enough not to make a reasonable bargain. My apologies for insulting you as an Apple fan. If you don't believe in bargaining, keep it to yourself, why do you bother flaming it from the first place.
 
My credit card has the pending authorization on it all of a sudden! :D Anybody know how long it takes from pending to the actual charge?

Estimated arrival: Mar 1st.

This is my first iMac, and I'm kind thrilled (and anxious) to learn how to use it. I'll be utilizing it mostly for digital art, photo-editing, and probably even for home-recording.
PCs weren't too kind to me over the years, and finally decided to make the switch. I hope I made the right decision. :)

Update: I just got it this morning, that was two days faster than expected, I live in San Francisco and it came directly from Sacramento! ... I haven't opened it yet, because I need to figure out a place for it. Ahh, a lot of reorganizing is ahead of me, but I'm excited that it's already here. :)

Mine has been on for about ten days. I ordered on the 8th. I would say that you have two weeks to go. think mine will be in in a week.
