Anyone else have a shipment exception "Delay Beyond Our Control" on their MBP's fedex tracking? Guess a volcano near Anchorage erupted 6 times and is causing planes from China to be delayed. Doesn't look like I'll be getting my replacement 17" this week anymore, was supposed to be delivered Thursday morning. Ordered in late January and still no working uMBP on my lap. Can't believe that it will be atleast April before I get a working unit and thats if I get a good one this time. Anyone else got any info?

There was another thread where someone received an email that their computer was on the Fedex plane that crashed, not sure if that's the case for yours but ya considering that and the volcano I'd say probably going to be some delays. I would guess if one computer was on that plane there was likely several.

Have you called Apple to see if you can get any specifics? I'd guess that's about all anyone can do.

Yes, a plane crashed in Japan, if I'm not wrong. The lives of the two pilots were lost. May they rest in peace

A cargo plane has crash-landed in high winds at Japan's largest airport, killing both crew members on board.
The accident happened as the Federal Express plane arrived at Narita international airport, near Tokyo, from Guangzhou in China.
Japan's public broadcaster NHK showed dramatic footage of the plane bouncing as it landed on the runway, then bursting into flames.

Please no stupid comment about how your Mac is not getting here and apple is not going to comp you for time lost. Two people died damn it.

Mine says the same thing:

Mar 25, 2009 11:38 AM |Shipment exception SHANGHAI CN
Delay beyond our control

Mar 24, 2009 10:00 PM |At local FedEx facility SHANGHAI CN

Mar 23, 2009 12:24 PM | Left FedEx origin facility SHANGHAI CN

Mar 23, 2009 11:57 AM | Picked up SHANGHAI CN
Package received after FedEx cutoff

Mar 23, 2009 2:30 AM | Shipment information sent to FedEx

I went on another discussion and some people got notified that about their shipment. I'm assuming my mbp was on that carrier as well.

May there souls rest in peace and god bless their families

Umm there is already another entire thread of "bless these pilots" the guy just asked a simple question about his MBP.

People die every day, it's tragic but no need to bash the guy because is is wondering where is computer is. It's not like everyone all the sudden knows them. The "other" thread went from being sorry about an accident to rather pathetic. They bashed the OP then derailed his thread with all this crap.

Maybe bad weather or that Fedex is trying to reroute traffic due to the recent crash.

Remember, a small mis-synchronization and everything goes haywire for a shipping company such as Fedex. The plane crash was a huge dent in the synchronizing, so I'd expect Fedex to be playing catch-up in that part of the world.

That or, maybe the plane can't take off due to weather conditions.

I doubt it's the Japan crash that's the delay, since it happened Sunday night ET. Probably the volcano in Alaska. Sucks that FedEx is having to deal with both events. Go FedEx!!

Thanks boss for the backup

yeah i dont remember even saying anything about a plane crashing or anything about Apple comping me. I called Fedex and they said it had more to do with the eruptions but I would have to call tomorrow for more details. As far as i know my mac was going from Shanghai directly to Anchorage, not Shanghai>Guangzhou>Japan>Anchorage. I mean Guangzhou is almost 800 miles Southwest of Shanghai so i doubt that is a stop on the way to Anchorage. Just because it was a fedex plane out of china doesnt mean it was full of Apple computers. Pretty sure that this plane crash had nothing to do with my mac being delayed, but I guess some peeps want to appear sensitive and bash other people to make themselves look good. Its a forum site who are you trying to impress anyway.

Doh!

Same exception here, Delay beyond our control : 3/23.

And I paid for expedited shipping.... sigh.

....sigh is right.

I mean im one of the guys who pre-ordered this thing and and got the initial 2 week delay and then when it finally arrives I ve got a faulty unit that gets the blue lines when the gpu heats up. And then I initiate my return on the 9th and for some reason it doesnt ship out til the 23rd and now this delay. It should have shipped at most one day after my return and it wouldnt have been affected by these cataclysmic events and I would be browsing these forums on my uMBP instead of this crumby old Dell. But really I didnt start this thread to gripe as much as I started it to see if others were affected by this and if they had any more info as to the length of the delay.

Peace

Why don't you try emailing Apple? (Assuming you bought it from them). But, I don't think that will help since it's not their problem after it leaves their facilities.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not...

I would hope he is being sarcastic... but I have a feeling he's not.

Just to make sure I understood you... $3000 is more important to you than the life of someone you don't know? I guess life is really cheap these days for some people, and thanks for sharing your values with us.

No he's not, he, like me he's just not pretending we somehow know these pilots. I don't post "god bless" any of the other thousands of people who die daily, that's just part of life. The other thread on the forums went form a guy asking about if others had heard from Apple and was bashed (prior to him apologizing and retyping his question) by anyone who read his thread.

It gets pathetic very fast, it's the mob mentality to bash these types threads because somehow they are "insensitive" well boys and girls, S@#t happens, people die, write a letter to the family but no need to bash people for asking about their computer. I don't know the pilots and I"m not going to pretend to be someone I'm not. The news had been out for a couple days and not a single damn person said two words about it until these two threads are posted inquiring about their computer and then out of the blue their judged evil people because of it. Total BS to give them any crap over asking about their computer.

Well looks like this thread is gonna go completely off topic so Ill just post this and be on my way.

Looks like they are already starting to ship, my package just went from "Shipment Exception" to "In Transit", so its on it way to Anchorage, and hopefully i will still get it Thurs morning.

And I believe human life is much more important than my Mac however I didnt say anything about human life in my OP. Just volcanoes and a delay.

Then where are all the posts for the montana plane crash? the cops killed in Oakland? the soldiers in Iraq? The mom and daughter that died today about 6 blocks from my house?

I guess because two pilots make the news they are somehow special over everyone else that has died in the past few days?

The bandwagon is full... take it elsewhere

Just ignore them Stephen, they are all want to judge you while they sit back and look down from their high horse. While NONE of them cared enough to post their own thread... funny how that works. I guess I missed the outpouring of sympathy threads. ;)

Which btw I hope you get your computer soon :)

I just re-read both threads, and on this thread the only two people bashing anyone are you and caprizehaze. Get over yourself. (That's not a bash, just a suggestion.)

The other thread doesn't seem at all hostile, so I don't get what you're all in a twist about... nobody's asking you to bow down and make a prayer, but why the hostility to those who actually stopped to consider the human side of a tragedy? Why does it bug you so much? Just curious, because it's a nasty looking chip up there.

The other thread as it started, they did start and he edited his post, I didn't comment there because it was totally derailed. Then tonite this guy asks a simple question, not even mentioning the plane crash. I mentioned it as a possibility and then it began with xpara and the link and the whole "Please no stupid comment about how your Mac is not getting here and apple is not going to comp you for time lost. Two people died damn it."

If people are so moved as they convey here in this thread you all should be writing a letter to the families vs taking issue with the OP and myself focusing on his computer which probably has ZERO to do with the crash.

You then come in with your snide remarks how because someone wants to know about a $3000 computer you all the sudden know all about them and their values?

That's what is an absolute joke. Hypocrites nothing more. I don't pretend to cry over two pilots or likely the other thousand people that die everyday. No one else does either, until they find the oppeortunity to look like they are so caring in a public forum. Rather pathetic.

You don't even make sense... sorry. So you're saying, you can't express sympathy for someone, or a situation unless you express it for every other situation or person in the entire world? Seriously? It's not even a point worth arguing with you about, obviously, so I'll just let your own logic be your own opponent.

And I'm not going to take anything elsewhere, whatever that means. If you are unhappy with this thread, then why don't you just follow your own advice, rather than getting upset about it?

Not upset, I actually find it funny people get all emo over two pilots they don't know and the ONLY reason they bring it up is so they can look good in a thread where the OP DIDN'T BRING IT UP. The only reason you posted here was to make some snide remark about Capriseyhaze's comment. I posted here to tell the OP the crash was another possibility. You know.. to actually answer the OP's question?

Keep following the herd!

My snide remarks? I just repeated the following for clarity's sake. I guess you should take up your complaint with this guy.

BTW, I don't have to be snide. I just call 'em like I see 'em. Anyway, have a good night. I've lost interest in this silly discussion.
