Not to snap anyones hopes, but "In Transit" doesn't mean it left. Most likely its still in Hong Kong. My 27" iMac had a, " In Transit: Shanghai, China" and a "Departed Shanghai sort. facility".

Surprisingly, you can't get a bar of AT&T on a desert island, so I guess Tom Hanks would just use the boxes to build a raft or something. That would piss off the Order Status mafia.

If only they were Verizon...

Even if you could get service, you would have to find a way to activate the phone first. Or will it still let you can 911. :)

Mine still shows 'In Transit' so this may be the flight :D

edit:

It does say though: Jun 20, 2010 11:04 AM In transit LANTAU ISLAND HK

"In transit" means it's in between depots. Your package has not left HK based on the tracking info above. Once a package has actually been put on a plane tracking will be updated to read "Departed to", followed by "arrival", then "In transit" again, then "Package on FedEx Vehicle for Delivery".

Why would you even put that out there... you do realize that people flying that equipment have families???

Are you serious? No, I actually said "hope it doesn't crash..." because I was wishing for such a horrible thing

My comment was in reference to the ongoing Castaway jokes in this thread, a film in which a FedEx flight does crash.

Plus, my iPhone 4 isn't even on that flight... ;)

Thank you I will lighten up... sorry...

Ok

Mine says 'In transit' . Im assuming that it's not in the air at least until it says 'left facility' or something like that right?

I'm mean, I just don't want to stalk the wrong plane, that would be silly.

Is Flight FDX4 the next FedEx flight scheduled from HongKong to Anchorage?

If I am reading the info correctly on FlightAware, it looks like FDX4 will depart some time around 11:30pm CST.

I set it to UTC time and FlightAware shows departure 10:50pm UTC.

I suppose its not unreasonable to think the package left one FedEx pallet off to another and sat there waiting to be put on the plane.

Looks like we are riding together danpass as I am in transit LANTAU ISLAND HK

If our phones really ARE on this flight, I am sure tom hanks is pissed his character wasn't on that plane. Would have been hilarious to have hundreds on iPhone 4's wash up on the beach.

Yeah and then have no laptop or itunes to activate any of them.

Not all of the orders are on that plane of course. While my order is still in "prepared for shipment", I did that fedex hack mentioned in another thread to get the tracking number for my phone. Fedex lists it as expected to ship on the 21st, estimated delivery on the 23rd (but of course it'll be held until the 24th), and has nothing other than "Jun 20, 2010 12:20 PM - Shipment information sent to FedEx". I expect it will go out on tonight's flight out of HK, which of course will be the 21st there.

FedEx Flight 9168 is now enroute to memphis, tn. I believe this the first shipment of pre-orders.

I doubt it. A) People would have seen their status go to, " Arrived in Anchorage" and " Departed Anchorage". B) they would have seen an Int'l customs release.

So far all we have read is peoples status is, " In Transit" which doesn't mean it left Hong Kong yet( it could have, and they forgot to scan it or didn't go into the system. Happened to me a few times). Also, I never had my packages go on the same flight as it arrived at Anchorage.

I am basing my info on information for flight FDX9168 as listed at http://flightaware.com/live/flight/FDX9168.
