You are not bored with the ipad, you are bored with your apps, or perhaps your life. The ipad itself is a slab of metal and glass...boring indeed. It's what you do with it that keeps it interesting.

not sure what you mean by "it will end".. As long as Apple keeps putting out great products this billion dollar company will be around for years to come.. Technology is advancing faster than they can put out new products...

What a silly statement...

For years to come. Does that mean forever?

Are you old enough to remember IBMs dominant market position?

What exactly makes the statement silly?

This constant cycle of innovation and upgrade is not limitless. It will end. Question is when. When do we hit that ceiling?

Same reason we don't live like the Jettson's...

I think Apple is even admitting that it is "hitting the ceiling" by their incremental upgrades, but then it is also a great sales tool.

ipad 3 sales were not what Apple had expected and from a business standpoint, the 4 was a very good move, on their part. It ticked a lot of people off but with Christmas just around the corner, those who are OCD about having the latest, have a GREAT excuse.

The same thing could have been said for Sony back in the 80s, they were on top of the game but they failed to keep producing great products that consumers want.

I think its losing its "magic" in part because competitors are now coming out with products that are rivaling its innovation. Apple needs to keep pushing the envelope, not rest on its laurels

I really wonder if you feel this way because every other thread on macrumors sounds just like this.
Sounds like an echo chamber of bad feelings about apple.

I recommend checking out some of the competing devices if you haven't, really renewed my appreciation for Apple.

Total opposite for me, the Nexus 7 with JB is buttery smooth and with many options to customize the device to my liking unlike Apple. ios6 also seems very outdated after using the nexus for a few days. My next phone will also be the new nexus phone that is coming out. I will be sticking with apple for my imac and MBA though, i can't stand windows!!!

For me the definitive test of Apple's capacity to innovate will be next year with the new headless Mac, be it a Mac Pro or a new Cube...if they just launch an evolutionary (as opposed to revolutionary) machine, then I'll clearly know that Cook will just be another Sculley...

OP, my thought is this... The more cool "tech" toys you have the less they will "wow" you. Especially if they are upgrades to a device you have had for a while. I went from a iPhone 4 to a 5. Skipped the 4s. I love it. Much faster, Siri ...and many other updates. That said, the day I opened the 5 box was nothing compare to the magic of my first iPhone. Something new, cool and magic will come down the road again. Enjoy the newest and latest that you have now and the little things that make them special while you wait.

I feel the same way. I am usually an early adopter, but I have an iPad 3 and the iPad mini seems meh. And, after waiting so long for the iPhone 5, I think Apple ended up delivering a lot of innovation in iOS 6, but the phone, itself, not so much. I may hold onto my iPhone 4 longer.

What in iOS 6 is innovative? I have it on my iPad and I'm not sure what innovative feature it has.

Purchased my iPad 2 on launch day and it still enchants me. So much so that I purchased an iPod touch 5 because it fits into my pocket.

With a touch of the screen of my iPad, my music shows up on my iPod. In about 20 minutes, I'll be outdoors doing fall cleanup of my garden. With my iPod securely in my pocket, I'll press the mic button of my earpods and tell Siri to play music. She does. Wow!

Pure magic and delight.

You probably feel that way OP because the Mini is not a high end product and who gets excited about ordering the budget version of anything.
