Ferrari today unveiled the Luce, its first fully electric car, designed with help from Apple's former design chief Jony Ive.

"Designed with Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson at the creative collective LoveFrom, a singular design language unites the exterior, interior, and interface with clarity and refined simplicity throughout," said Ferrari.

The exterior of the car has a "smooth, continuous, and uninterrupted" design, with a "shell-like form" and "floating front and rear aerodynamic wings."

The interior has "precision-engineered mechanical buttons, dials, toggles, and switches" combined with "multifunctional digital displays."

The three-spoke steering wheel is machined from 100% recycled aluminum.

The four-door, five-seat Luce is powered by four electric motors providing up to 1,035 horsepower, and it is equipped with a high‑capacity 122 kWh battery. Ferrari says the car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 2.5 seconds.

A dedicated app offers climate controls and charging settings, and it displays the car's status.

Luce pricing starts at €550,000 ($640,000) in Europe, with production set to begin in late 2026. The car will launch in the U.S. in the second quarter of 2027.

Apple was rumored to be working on its own electric vehicle for more than a decade, but the project was ultimately canceled last year.

😂 I’ve been seeing this thing get clowned all over social media. I’ve just been scrolling past the jokes. Had no idea until now that it was designed by Jony Ive.

This is gonna go right to the top of the ugliest cars Ferrari ever built list (they've built a lot of beautiful cars, but also a surprisingly large number of pretty darn ugly, or just boring, ones.)

Was looking forward to the reveal, but now that it's happened I must say it looks like a sandal with the tail lights of a 2000 Impala.

The 308 and F40 are way cooler.

This is the problem, the design looks like a Ferrari out of the 70s or 80s that they tried to “futurize” but it didn’t work and nobody (CEO or head of design) said no! It’s hideous, and I would rather drive my $35k VW Tiguan than this Ferrari; that’s not a normal statement for me. I do think some cars look amazing when they keep their original design language, but this one isn’t it. Furthermore, the interior looks okay, but I wouldn’t want to get in an accident with that dash - looks deadly.

I recently drove a $120k Dodge Ram pickup, and surprisingly it made me feel younger and more manly. I even bought a cowboy hat to wear after it. I’ve said when I was young was dumb and would spend absurd amounts on Porsches and Mercedes and always had to pull up to the country club or a client’s office in a nice car. I acted idiotic and wish I invested it in Apple or Nvidia instead; I said I would never buy a car worth over $100k anymore. But maybe with inflation over the last 20 years I can up that amount to buy a car I really like, but it will never be a luxury vehicle brand again. I hope young people think more about their retirement than buying a car like this Ferrari, but I can see some Apple-fans making the math make sense to have something Ive designed - by not doing the math.
