This camera of mine was designed my Marc. You can definitely see similar designs in the new Ferrari. I personally love my camera and still use it from time to time, even though it’s from 2012. The new Ferrari, though…it’s absolutely hideous. $650,000+
For that joke? I wouldn’t even pay sub $100,000 prices for it.

😂 I’ve been seeing this thing get clowned all over social media. I’ve just been scrolling past the jokes. Had no idea until now that it was designed by Jony Ive.

Seems like Jony is on a roll
With making big money and putting out crap results. Scam Altman, now Ferrari…just half effort work while
Collecting a huge paycheck. He really doesn’t care anymore, does he.

Recycled aluminum steering wheel…..for 640k I better have it gold plated and it feeds me my coffee every morning. I’m severely underwhelmed with this design from such a well known luxury car company. A Model S looks way better TBH. I will give kudos though to the interior.

the crazy thing is that Ferrari is still gonna sell a bunch of these. They’ll require it to get an allocation on something desirable and people will just take a $300-400k loss on them. It may sound crazy to non-supercar enthusiasts, but Ferrari has been playing the allocation game for longer than anyone else. People buy less desirable Ferraris, put them in a garage for a year or however long Ferrari wants them to, and then sell them with almost no miles and at a massive loss. Ferrari buyers just accept it as part of the price to play.

They'll sell a ton of these. Not because it looks good. Because it has the right badge and it's electric.

I don't know about sales, but it's not a good looking car. Except for the circle tail lights, yellow badge and brown leather, has almost no ferrari design language.

Missed opportunity.

Doesn't inspire lust or envy the way 90% of Ferrari's do.

Enzo would never have signed off on this.

Sometimes I think i'm just dreaming reality. Coz why is everything so weird nowadays. Car headlights are as bright as the sun today. Everyone driving giant SUVs and pickups. Jony's "Ferrari."

Designing the exteriors of electric cars is challenging, because they need low Cd's (drag coefficients) to maximize range.

That's why many of them look smooth and boring—they can't afford to look like, for instance, the Ferrari Daytona SP3, which Motor Trend perfectly described as "achingly beautiful":

Having said that, I think it's possible to do far better than Ive's co-design—it looks like what you'd get if you had a magic wand that turned computers into cars, and pointed it at a Mac Mini.

Ive has a specific design aesthetic, and that aesthetic works beautifully for computers, but apparently not at all for cars.

Hm. Dash is a bit dated already. Exterior looks like someone wrung all the sex out of the Ferrari experience. It does bring to mind the similarly coloured Prius concept from Toyota a decade ago that briefly excited everyone (bc it was pretty slick) and which of course Toyota completely neglected to produce bc when the money hits the pavement, executives are conservative and avoid the risk of designs too far out of the familiar. So I’ll give Ferrari respect for entertaining the idea at least.

Going up against the Italian designers takes some pretty colossal & firm cojones. But I have yet to see anything from the Ive/Newsom collab that makes any sense being in an Italian product line. Plastic kitchen accessories in a Target, sure, or a German department store. But then brand names are what trendy rich American children are really buying, so maybe Ferrari+Apple royalty = a home run.
