Hi. Can anyone help?

I have one of the early unibody Macbook Pro's.

Today when I switched it on, it spent a long time on the grey screen, then showed a sign in the middle of the screen of a File with a question mark in the middle.

This sign was just flashing with the grey screen in the background.

I re-started and the machine booted as normal. Obviously, I am a little concerned.

Does it sound likely that it's a harddrive problem?

Many thanks in advance

Simon

If none of those solutions work for you, take the machine into an Authorized Service Provider as you may be experiencing a failing hard drive. I would suggest ASPs because they usually do a better and quicker job than the Apple Stores.

That sounds like a hardware problem. If you don't have a Time Machine backup yet, it is now very very urgent to get one. Any cheap 1 TB USB hard drive will do fine. Not having a backup is criminal.

it just means it cant find the os to boot form, could be as simple as reselecting the startup disk
