"It automatically encrypts and decrypts your files while you're using them"

Does anyone use this facility and does it drain any system resources?

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to code a memo, stickies (or better yet, have stickies ask the user for a password) or note? I've a terrible memory and I have some exploitable information I'd like to keep safe.

Thanks

I use it on my porn account ... and yes, it does create some overhead. Don't try to do any media editing on it.

Filevault doesn't make any noticable difference while compiling a project with about 500 files on a MacBook. Just keep your iTunes music folder outside the home directory; no point encrypting music or video.
