That's really unfortunate....

I can't relate, however. I have never used paypal for selling purposes. About a year ago I purchased an item off ebay and didn't receive it. Within a week of me contacting paypal about it, they had the money credited back to my account. So that was pretty helpful.

Maybe it's an issue that you should contact the buyer about... perhaps it's a misunderstanding. I should add, as well, that before I approached paypal about being reimbursed I spent a couple of weeks trying to resolve this issue with the seller, but to no avail.

I had a situation where i paid for an item. the seller didnt ship me the item purchased. for over a month from payment. They were defaulting on actually alot of their clients, so a track record was clear. Paypal got me my money back.

however as a seller i am sure you can argue against this. call them and talk to a human. don't settle for automated systems and emails. i think that could help you significantly

You're not any better off if you used credit card processing, since CC companies favour the buyer. In my limited experience, I found PayPal to be a joy to use and very convenient. Sorry if your experience differs. My worst PayPal experience involves phishing attempts on my account name and password, but I'm really quick to notice those.

here is the information to call them direct, talk to a human being, i really think that could help. please let us know what happens. i am kinda curious now.

Ive never had anything bad happen on PayPal. Maybe Im just lucky, maybe I just havent gotten any of those "bad" customers that only rival PayPal in their ferocity over a few dollars.

Ive been using paypal for almost 5 years now, and in the last year alone have done like 50 or 60 transactionss without a hitch.

but, like I said, I never sold anything that people "couldnt" be satisfied with, or at least to the point of asking for a full refund without talking to me about it first.

I know how retarded paypal can be, but in my personal case, its paid my bills some months, and given me ways to accept payments quickly for people Ive never met.

also, their money market account pays 5.0%+ on money you keep there, if you have signed up for it. ive yet to really keep a paypal balance at a constant level, I use my PayPal credit card to buy groceries and gas and stuff, which saves me the time of waiting to withdraw the paypal balance to my bank account, of course when my paypal accnt has a balance! And I get a hefty 1% cashback, which I guess cancels out some paypal fees.

Im wary to say dump $5000 into my paypal account and let it earn 5%, but if they did some BS to me, id be pist.

I'm with this guy. Why are they taking $100. If you were the seller where is the buyer? You know, you can call paypal too? It's actually easier than I thought.

I'm the seller. I sold something to someone for 100 bucks back in August. Apparentely, the buyer was using a fradulent credit card and the real owner of the card did a chargeback, so somehow, Paypal thinks that's my fault. I have absolutely no contact info for the seller but his e-mail address, and the domain for that email is some private one, which is now registered to one of those companies that buys up domains and slaps advertising on it, so e-mails bounce back.

That sounds like a nasty situation. FWIW, I've used PayPal since 1999 (yeah, I got into PayPal and eBay when I was a minor, before they required a credit card :) ). I've never had a problem with PayPal; if anything it's helped me send and receive money faster.

About a year ago, my best friend had around $500 stolen out of his checking account through PayPal. PayPal was very, very quick in replacing it. I don't know how PayPal got into his checking account on behalf of the thieves, but I suspect it was entirely PayPal fault. They were great in working with my friend about it though.

Paypal can "eat" my "cheesecake".

Aw, come on! Why would you let them do that!? Weren't you just complaining about how terrible they were? And now they're eating your cheesecake!? And you're OK with this!!

Fine. It's over between us. I just can't be friends with someone who'd let PayPal eat his cheesecake without saying anything like that. Even worse, you told me yesterday *I*couldn't have any of it because it was for your sick little brother. YOU LIED!

So its pretty clear I'm going to be screwed, but I came up with an idea....eventually, Paypal is going to take the money from my bank account, right? When that happens, what if I call up my bank (US Bank) and tell them that the removal money from my account was not authorized by me, which, of course, it wouldn't be. Anyone think that would work?

i have US Bank too, love them. i had a problem with a website charging me 30 some dollars for a order i placed and then canceled. it showed up on my bank statement when i looked at it online but it didn't give the name of the website, just their 1800 number. I called US Banks 1800 number and told them what had happened. The woman i talked to said she would start a investigation into the matter and it would be cleared up shortly.

After i talked to my bank, i called the website and talked with a guy for about 10 minutes telling him i never bought anything from them, and i wanted them to credit my money back. He said he couldn't do that. I told him my bank had started a investigation into the matter and he put me on hold to talk to his manager. A few seconds later the guy came back on and said they would credit the money back to me.

Good-Luck!!

Hmmm. I thought the whole idea of using Paypal was to isolate both buyer and seller from credit card fraud related problems. Seems to me that if Paypal is used, that they should be the ones responsible for paying the selling and then if the buyer is a cheat, to take that up with the buyer and the credit card company.

I love eBay. 3 odd years we've used it, we've never had any issues with it. Paypal on the other hand is a bit more annoying. We get emails saying money is going through unauthorised, when it hasnt, as we hadnt used it. Figured it must of been fraud emails so reported it to Paypal.

Right, Paypal should be at fault for having ****** security.

The IP of the buyer was traced to some ISP in Amsterdam. The name of the buyer (I guess the card owner) is clearly English, so he's probably ether British, American or Canadian, which would lead me to believe that the credit card used belonged to someone of one of those 3 countries. So, say you're in Amsterdam, using an American visa card, shouldn't that raise a ton of red flags at Paypal? Apparantely it didn't, and now I'm gonna get screwed.

Update: Paypal took 2 weeks to "investigate" and determined that some guy halfway around the world using a stolen credit card is completely my fault, so they stole $100 from me. I got absolutely nowhere with them on the phone and have now taken my complaint to the BBB, hopefully I'll get somewhere.
