anyone see the movie? Was I the only one not impressed by the film

IMHO, More and more, films are just action for the sake of action, making no special effort to impart feeling or prompt thought. It has become increasingly rare to find a recent film that impresses.

Nevertheless, folks will declare that terrible movies like Harry Potter are "like SOOOO good!" or even insist that Ben Affleck is a great actor. It boggles the mind.

That being said, Darren Aronofsky's earlier films were quite good. Requiem for a Dream is an absolute masterpiece and Black Swan really made you think. Even The Wrestler dared to do something risky and proved genuine for it.

edit: I haven't yet seen Noah.

I thought The Book Thief was quite good. So was Saving Mr. Banks. They require tissues, though. ;(

As for Aronofsky's previous work, he was actually trying to create art. He explicitly stated this movie was an environmentalist propaganda piece that is the least biblical bible movie ever made. The trailer was also edited to make the movie appear good as I'm sure had they included the embarrassing rock monsters it would have ended before it began. It was all a gimmick for profit with no intention of artistic interpretation or expression. He could've easily made it a brilliant film, it's not like he's lacking talent.

They say there's nothing enough clean water in the world. But here they are wasting it for a movie.
Seriously?

So why on earth did they not use the Jesus Phone(tm) then? Would have been such a better fit for the task... ;)

The point is there are a lot of naysayers that the iPad can't do the job and can't do creative things. So pointing out that the job would have got done without the iPad is not relevant.

No, the point is that you're saying that implementing an app with some huge buttons on it like "Rain On/Off", "Thunderstrike Now!" is creative? WTF?

Totally not impressed by this article, nothing to see here, go on...

But the other part of me says that the movie was somewhat disrespectful to the bible.
It adds confusion to something that was not confusing to begin with. I left the theater second guessing what I read.

Wait... are you saying you believed in the literal truth of the Biblical story of Noah... but after merely seeing a movie you have doubts?

And that's bad?
