I've just put a mini-review type thing on my blog. Overall: Not impressed !

Insightful article there, Ol!ver. I'm all for high-definition content, what with a 24-inch iMac and a 32-inch HDTV. Having said that, I refuse to buy a BD Player and BDs when I can pick up a DVD of the movie for a quarter of the price. I do support digitally distributed HD content and even when Macs start shipping with a BD drive, I still wouldn't be picking up BD movies because by that time I am certain that we will have a HD option for downloading and renting movies outside of Apple TV.

£7 to buy a library title? Or head over to play.com and get it for £5 or less on DVD. I know which I prefer.
£3.49 and £2.49 also seem a little too high for rentals. I might give it a go, but a starting price of £1.49 would get a lot more people through the door.
Damn yeah... and Virgin Megastore or whatever they call themselves now (it's changed since I left the UK) do those 5 DVDs for 30 quid deals too. Hmm, I'm not sure this will work out so well for Apple this time.

You might want to rewrite this bit: "The whole experience kicks off when you fire up the iTunes store, and hit the 'Movies' link."

They're called "films" in the UK. :p

Heheh yeah that's true. And you don't go to the 'movies' either... you go to the 'cinema'. How quaint. ;)

Don't you start too ! The missus goes mad when I call em movies ;)

Nah....when we used to call it 'The Flicks'....that was quaint!

Top stuff to see films on iTunes for the UK at last. Although I live abroad these days I still have a UK based credit card...so perhaps it's time for me to go pick up an :apple:TV too! :D

Prices look reasonable to me...same sorta price as hiring a film for Blockbusters or the like.
