Adjustment Clips WOW. Very nice update, I don't know why so many people are whining
Am I reading these messages correctly to understand that FCP doesn't have adjustment layers (or didn't before this)? That seems hard to believe since that's a basic function of basically every other major editor.

I'm assuming I'm wrong and "adjustment clips" is just some additional functionality. Because why would anyone use an editor without something so basic?

Give me one reason why I would need a creepy image ?
You in particular? No idea. There is a pretty huge variety of content on YouTube, however, and I'm sure plenty of the editors behind those masterpieces will find new sources of creepy images quite useful.

I could swear at some point they would try to buy BlackMagic and let them handle Davinci Resolve as their official Professional Video Editor. That would be the best move...
"At some point [Apple] should try to buy Macromedia and let them handle Final Cut as their official Professional Video Editor..." - some guy at NAB in 1998, probably.

Be careful what you wish for....

Um anyways not a huge deal since we could import the image from the image playground app…

I really love FCP X. I understand how bad the transition was, but overall the Magnetic Timeline is so much better/faster than most other editors. Not to mention the interfaces are so behind the times.

I know the workflows for large studios just isn’t there which is a shame.

As far a the iPad goes, I really wish there was a mode you can pick for a project that allowed it to work on both devices.

Davinci Resolve has magnetic timeline as well. Not only in Cut Page but also in Edit Page.

Yeah, I noticed Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve now tend to share most of the same features. Even USEFUL A.I.-based ones like the Voice Isolation and the Magic Mask/Magnetic Mask rotoscoping feature.

Here's my detailed article about the new update:
https://www.provideocoalition.com/final-cut-pro-11-1-released/

Adjustment Clips are great, and much more convenient than the Adjustment Layers everyone's been using for years now. Plus you can fade them! They're still more powerful than Adjustment Layers in Premiere Pro, because in FCP, they can control transforms, not just color.
You can control transforms in Premier Pro as well using adjustment layers. You need to drop the transform effect onto the adjustment layer and do the transform inside of that effect.

Kinda sorta… it’s really not as good as the magnetic timeline in Final Cut Pro.

I am currently migrating over to Davinci resolve and I’ve been pouring over the instruction manual and tutorials nonstop… it’s a way better editing experience overall…. But these two things are still better in Final Cut Pro:

. Magnetic timeline
. Multicam clips

Thanks for the clarification, just tried it. It's a real shame that the Motion section doesn't work with Adjustment Layers too, because the Transform effect is janky. It doesn't update Position live as you drag the numbers, so positioning is way harder than it should be, and it flickers like crazy as you adjust Scale. But technically it does work, so I've updated my article.

History tells us that's not how Apple do acquisitions. They'd buy the suite, offer it at a reduced price for a few years while their dev team is busy gutting the code for a few algorithms that they think will be a nice fit for the Photos app. Once that transfusion is complete, the donor apps will be killed off. Remember Shake?
So let's hope they never get their hands on your favourite software. Let's hope Pixelmator doesn't befall the same fate.

Side note: Autodesk did a similar thing to the brilliant Softimage XSI 3D DCC app about 10 years ago. Bought it to take out their nearest competitor, stole some code for their native Maya app, then EOD it and locked away the code screwing over an entire industry. One of the greatest crimes in software development. Still makes me sad to think about it.

You can do both of them much easier and more efficiently with Davinci Resolve. Delve into the manual for multicam. However, for magnetic timeline, program a shortcut to Ripple Delete forward and backward. I use F1 and F2

Of course when it comes to Final Cut's multicam, I heard it's a lot better than the multicam editor in the pre-2011 versions of Final Cut Pro. And I still remember the rejoicing when FCP X had multicam editing added with version 10.0.3 in January 2012.
