    Hey guys!
Im thinking about buying my first macbook ever. I want to use my macbook to edit some videos in final cut (1440p@60fps) and making thumbnails in photoshop. My question now is, should i get 8gb ram or 16gb ram? The export time doesnt matter for me but much more important for me is if i can playback my videos smoothly while editing.

You should be fine on the 2019 models. You can use proxy files or just decrease the playback quality as you are editing.

Also, where the hell are you getting 1440p video from? A screen capture? I don't know of any camera that shoots that resolution.

Final Cut is well optimized for macOS and you should have no problem working with your footage on the base models. I’d recommend 16GB of RAM.

    GoPros have this setting.

Any MacBook Pro should be able to edit 4k let alone 1440p easily. I'm editing 4k 60fps on a 2016 and I haven't had any issue with scrubbing or exporting. my only piece of advice is if you are doing it regularly or have a time commitment I would suggest either getting a 15 inch with a dedicated GPU or like me a eGPU to help with rendering.

Interesting. I suppose it could be useful for a 1080p export as it gives you some crop to play with given that you aren't framing your shots.
