I'm just going to upgrade the iOS on my 15 Pro Max, and [if I can brave it] finally go caseless - will feel like a whole new phone to me!! lol
setting it up as new, updating the software and going caseless (or getting a new case) is really the trifecta of feeling like a new phone without getting a new phone.

Seriously, why do so many people upgrade each year? Everyone complains about how incremental and small the upgrades are and how they don’t have the money, but then those same people proceed to go buy the $1000+ phone every year. I upgraded from a iPhone SE 2nd gen to a 16 and yea it was a good upgrade, but I don’t see any reason why upgrading this year would make any sense.
it really, really isn’t that complicated.

like many others, I use my iPhone all throughout the day and have since 2007. I don’t complain about the pricing.

it’s my most used device. upgrading annually doesn’t cost much at all because I either sell or trade in my old device. there’s no other electronic that I buy annually because for me there’s no need. iPhone though? yes.

and me upgrading every year is not putting me in the poor house. I can still invest, save, travel and do whatever I want. simple.

Pro phones get bright saturated colours?

What madness is this?

(Looking forward to it tbh)

When someone sells/trades in the old phone, it's about 1/2 the price to always have the latest phone. For many people their phone is the most common piece of technology they interact with so even minor improvements can help. I'm on the IUP, and have upgraded yearly because it's easy and I always want the latest camera.

I'm on iPhone 13. Still waiting for something "worth" it.
How’s your battery health holding up? My 14 Pro is down to 82%. It’s still fantastic for everything so I’ve been debating a battery vs device upgrade.

People just like to bitch about how they would upgrade if only it were "worth" it. And then likely do so anyway. Ad nauseam. Every ****ing year.

And this proves that Apple's strategy of incremental updates every year works.

If people keep buying, and they do, then the complaining by the people who buy can be and will be ignored.

Stop complaining or stop upgrading, because the letter nullifies the former.

Ugh...that's the ugliest phone possibly ever. Apple finally did it! They lost me as an iphone customer now. Still have my macbook and ipad but no reason not to go Samsung now, and i thought Samsung was ugly

Wow... That's the best looking iPhone since the introduction of the ugly camera bump.

Balanced symmetry meets functional design - what Apple always does (did) the best rather than just the basic yearly camera updates.

A fully recyclable material that is also extremely thermally efficient which, coupled with the bigger battery and vapour cooling add up to one of the better updates for a few years.

Not sure why all the hate here this year?

Can’t wait for the person giving the hardware presentation to explain “vapor chamber cooling system” in typical flowery Apple marketing-speak. Also, very interested to hear how they address the perceived “downgrade” from titanium to aluminum. Two “aerospace-grade” metals, for sure…it’s just that titanium is the more “elite” aerospace metal, if you will.

So do I, I have a 16 Pro Max which still does what it did a year ago and still waiting for these cool AI features they told us about last year. Even if we use our iPhones everyday as our most used devices, it still doesn't mean we need the latest device to enable us to do what we need. People upgrade every year because they want to, not because they have to, and thats fine as a personal choice. Its nobody elses money but our own.

I upgrade every couple of years because I find annual upgrades boring and a hassle I don't need. Some people love the shiney new toy thing, but I lost that buzz quite a few years ago now.

Because Apple used to be known for clean, minimal designs.

Final? Promise or threat? So nothing more before 10am PDT tomorrow, Tue 9/925???

Let's wait and see...
Couldn’t help themselves, they’ve already since posted another Gurman rumour 🙄 which in itself is just a regurgitation of another article posted not even 24 hours ago…

With ever increasing photo and video demands and the necessary camera bump, Apple will never go back to that style of iPhone ever unless they make the whole phone thicker (not a chance of that).

As a design choice I prefer the balance of a full bump to an offset square bump.

And if the new bump like rumours suggest is used for a new antenna placement so the hand doesn't effect the reception like famously did in the iPhone 4 pic you posted, that's also a very clever design choice too.
