Although the basic layout of the design is probably as shown in the renders, I am sure that Apple will not release a phone looking exactly like these images.

There will be important changes that give the design more balance, elegance, and improved perception of surface qualities.

Jokes aside the late rumors have me very interested , especially the battery department

AI is really lacking tho. It's sad when you see what Gemini achieves, while consuming little battery (I have a feeling apple intelligence and Siri will be power hungry)

Also apple is very sneaky, and historically have called "optical" what wasn't in fact optimal zoom . So yeah
They do this with the "sapphire" on the camera lenses too.

Apple's prowess of pulling off incremental upgrades when it would be so tempting to innovate is unmatched.

The trick is to not buy a new phone/whatever each year.

I don’t get this mindset and the comments get old. I work in the industry and as an Apple partner. No one needs a new device yearly. Not a phone. Not a computer. Not an iPad.

Know what comes out every year like clockwork and absolutely no one complains about? Cars! Every year, there’s always a brand new car. Just a new coat of paint. Every couple years a mid model refresh and generally every five years a redesign. And are people complaining to Ford or Honda “quit with the new cars and innovate yearly!!!” Nope.

I’m excited for the announcement, but not because I’m planning on buying a new iPhone. It’s more the idea of what Apple might tout about the iPhone and Watch that would tempt me to buy. I like my 15 Pro Max and it works for my work and personal life needs, not to mention I’ve got a thing for titanium. Not to say that it’s perfect. When using it outside, the phone gets really hot and kills battery life, so heat dissipation improvements would be welcome. I can’t really think of anything else that I would like to see change.

Where are everyone that has been raving for Apple to introduce Vapor Chamber cooling technology?

Oh. There are none

I feel certain that in a few hours we will have weeks of tech YouTubers raving about it. ;)

No Apple Fold makes this another ho-hum nothing to see here, pass and wait a year event. Nothing in a 17 that would make me move on from a 14PM.

From the 14 to the 15 to the 16 and now the 17, Apple has settled in, continually releasing the same phone. Where is the innovation.

Prove us wrong with a One More Thing Fold reveal.

Seriously, why do so many people upgrade each year? Everyone complains about how incremental and small the upgrades are and how they don’t have the money, but then those same people proceed to go buy the $1000+ phone every year. I upgraded from a iPhone SE 2nd gen to a 16 and yea it was a good upgrade, but I don’t see any reason why upgrading this year would make any sense.
Dude, you are so correct on this. I don’t upgrade unless there is a specific feature that I want. For example, I went from the iPhone 11Pro to the iPhone 16 Pro only because I wanted a better battery life and the Dynamic Island. But that is about it. Plus, I also only buy the iPhone in cash. I doon’t see why people feel the need to upgrade every single year. It really does not make sense.

I upgrade yearly through T-Mobile. I just pay tax on the new device and send my previous one in to them. The new installment amount replaces the old installment amount and when Apple doesn’t raise prices, that installment amount is the same every year.

I don’t mind being locked in to T-Mobile, I don’t mind never owning my phone outright 🤷🏻‍♀️

Because Ai is such a great feature that make all past Apple/Samsung phones obsolete.

Ai in phones is a marketing solution to a stagnant, feature mature product.
It's pretty much the only thing driving new software features in all operating systems, mobile and desktop. There are real uses for it. For Apple it's a marketing solution because Apple is the king of marketing. They literally sold iPhone 16s with features that didn't even ship, and some still haven't shipped, but they marketed it like it sure did.
You're absolutely right, the product is beyond mature.
So far I've seen them give battery one year, then take some the next, then give some the year later, etc.
Let the phones run hot, then I guess now make a vapor chamber and say they are cool.
Since they are supposedly and finally all getting 120hz ProMotion, I'm curious to see if they give the regular 17's and the 17 Air Always-On Display, instead of just a smoother display that still turns black and isn't 1hz to 120hz.

Nice to see HD pics of the phone in all colors once released as presently they don't seem to look so great to me.
Dark Blue and Orange in the photos look tacky but need to see in reality. Maybe the orange is more copper. Why cannot they offer a silver blue/light blue option like the Air modal? Ridiculous to limit only to Air modal.

I wish Apple would be a bit more lavish in its color offerings and depth of color to make the pro modals especially look real classy. Charging so much money, as a premium brand, why do they cripple color options?

If Apple is a high end luxury brand, is it too much to ask for a Ferrari or Porsche type quality finish with a commendable array of color finishes? Buying a pro modal phone, I would expect the phone to ooze class offering a selection of classy range of sophisticated colors which blow the competition out of the water. The external looks is just as important as the guts.

iPhone X off white (ivory) was classy. Sierra Blue on 13 was classy. Apple need an internal pro calibration AI machine to give more love to fine tuning pro modals to offer a vastly superior paint job experience compared to the regular modals.
The quality of color and finish is an important factor in purchasing a device of high investment.

AFAIK, the ProMotion feature isn’t just a 120Hz panel. It’s true GPU and display refresh rate sync, like G-SYNC for NVIDIA graphics cards. The display changes its refresh rate exactly to what the GPU demands. This saves on power and makes for extremely smooth and stutter-free animations and content playback.

So that’s a big deal if it does end up coming to the Air and non-Pro iPhones.

Didn't know it was like G-Sync, thats awesome. I haven't been able to use a non ProMotion phone ever since its been around, I love the feature probably my favorite one.

So do I, I have a 16 Pro Max which still does what it did a year ago and still waiting for these cool AI features they told us about last year. Even if we use our iPhones everyday as our most used devices, it still doesn't mean we need the latest device to enable us to do what we need. People upgrade every year because they want to, not because they have to, and thats fine as a personal choice. Its nobody elses money but our own.

I upgrade every couple of years because I find annual upgrades boring and a hassle I don't need. Some people love the shiney new toy thing, but I lost that buzz quite a few years ago now.
no one has to do anything. everyone can do whatever they want. but when people say they don’t understand how/why someone would upgrade annually… it’s just not rocket science.

myself nor anyone else “needs” the newest iPhone every year. I simply want it because I use the phone a lot and like to have the latest features/design no matter how incremental and no matter what anyone else thinks of it.

and there’s no hassle considering how easy it is to backup, restore and trade-in.

just as I understand why someone would keep their iPhone for 5 years, it shouldn’t be difficult to understand why someone else would want to upgrade theirs often.

I’m right there with you, that’s why I upgrade yearly and I understand why other folks like to get a phone and run it into the ground. I’m not this way with cars, for example. I got a 2016 Corolla a year ago and I hope to hand it down to my now 7 year old eventually. I just enjoy having the newest iPhone and T-Mobile lets me upgrade yearly by paying tax and trading in my previous phone 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s really not that complicated.

Yeah each person can do whatever they please! I've updated ever year, I think the most I've paid for the 'the new $1000 iPhone' has been maybe $150 after selling my current iPhone and applying it towards a new purchase. Most years It's usually $25-100 bucks for me.

Exactly. I'll buy an iPhone for $1,000... then Apple will offer me $800 next year on a trade-in. And repeat.

Meanwhile... my single-line Verizon plan is $120/month.

Basically I can get a new iPhone every year for $200... but it costs me $1,400 a year for cell service.

Suddenly the cost of the hardware isn't the problem...

🤣
