The 460 graphics card will be about 2x as fast as the iris pro 5200 and 1.5 x as fast as m370.

The 5200 is about 850 gigaflops the 460 is about 1.8 teraflops (about the same as a ps 4)

2x faster in terms of rendering and exporting? I'd assume it helps with that, but i'm guessing it also helps with editing 4K and more easily working with it and playing without rendering in FCPX as well? That's the biggest perk of having a faster/dedicated video card with more VRAM isn't it? I'd assume that's how it works anyways since you need more VRAM the higher resolution you game at.

They have offered me a replacement machine due to the space gray falling off in places and the machine hasn't left the same desk in the 9 days I have owned it.

Do they give you a brand new machine or re-furb?

I doubt they give refurb machines as replacement, so it should be brand new.

Hopefully it's a quick turn around (Love this machine) Just hope all this can be a thing of the pass- scared with a new machine it just won't be right again.

I leave mine plugged in almost always. I play World of Warcraft and I need it plugged in so the discrete video card will be used. Plus playing games will run down the battery incredibly fast. I have always kept my MBPs plugged in; this is my fourth.
how is WOW on the new MBP?

how is WOW on the new MBP?

I have an XPS 15 and I'm not sure why, but WoW runs better on my new MacBook Pro. I am told that the GeForce 960M is demonstrably superior to the Radeon Pro 455 in my MBP but I'm just not seeing it. I run the MBP at 1650x1050, with settings at level 7, and I get 120fps with dips to the low 60s in the busiest and most demanding areas. I have shadows and water detail low, I think everything else is good or high. Distance is at 7. I use smc fan control to force my fans to keep things cooler, I run them around 4500rpm while playing. Apple isn't quite as paranoid about heat remediation as I am.

Awesome! I may have to upgrade or mess around with the settings on my 15. (maxed mid 2016 15 inch)

Got new replacement machine, Worse condition then old one... Aluminum shards coming out fan holes and dint and paint missing!

I may be late but every time they mention "replacement", be sure that it's going to be a refurbished.

PS: Op, could you please post pictures? I'm curious what you're talking about.

I don't think this is true! My replacements came in a sealed retail box, not a refurbished one.

If it has the same part number on the box and comes in full colour retail packaging, it's new, not refurbished.

Whatever is returned will just wind up on the refurb store.

One of the biggest things for me is the power cord! First of all, it's very cool that I can plug it in on either side. Most importantly though, if the cord goes bad I can replace it with a $20 cable instead of a $79 complete power cord with adapter, like I had to so many times with my 2012 MBP.

Until you yank off your 3000$ notebook because the lack of magsafe.

What!?! The space gray can "fall off"??? That not very reassuring...especially not having left the same desk in 9 days.

When the machine is under 14 days old it's a brand new machine, not refurb if it was refurb I'd take legal action, box is full standard sale packaging and correct part number not refurb.

It's also got keyboard light issues and the sound is sub par.

Very disappointed now.

Considering after 3 months of waiting and screw arounds and been a business customer that purchases a lot of Apple to discontinue my accounts and return the machine.

This is genuinely pathetic.

I'll see if I can post pictures.

To be honest if it wasn't for what you can see in the second image I'd have probably kept it. Hopefully the next one is better.

That's what did me.

It's the principle that none of my old MacBook pro's ever came like this.

It's not on, but the other little issues is enough.

It's a full custom bto machine.

So yeh don't want to keep something that is sub par QC.

In my experience Apple quality control has taken a hit in the last couple of years across all product lines: dings, scratches, misalignments, and inconsistencies are becoming the norm. I think this is magnifying as Apple's products become more complex, thin, adhesive-laden, difficult to manufacture, and are made in ever-higher volumes.

The no questions asked return policy makes up for it. They better not get rid of it! But you are right - you should not accept sub-par QC and you should keep exchanging until you get one you are happy with (or give up) without feeling guilty.

Exactly, I love the machine.

Really do. Just sick and tired of the quality control.

Next one better be perfect.

Good luck! I opened one at the store and the bottom looked like someone ran dirty fingers across it, and apple immediately brought out a different one.

Mostly working fine, but watchdog can kiss my a$*. Earlier when I went to wake up the machine by opening the lid... crickets. Then it rebooted about 20 seconds later. We'll see if it keeps up.

Oh my both have done that!... Current Arguments with apple.

Also said due to 3 months of issues I Would like to be upgraded to the 2.9Ghz cpu for all my inconvenience.
