Money has nothing to do with my comment. People in cities like L.A. and NY are more connected than folks in Boise no?

No they are not any "more connected" in LA & NY.

Do they waste more money on the latest toys?
Maybe? Who knows. Neither of us is bringing more than anecdotal data here, so it's really just guessing.

Gross dude! LOL

That's my point! LOL

I'm being serious - I think they'll be a weaker 2nd hand market for the Watches compared to other Apple devices before it.

Yep, just you. :D

Not worried about those 20 threads after more people bought the watch than the original phone and ipad combined. There are over a million orders. Some bought because they love the tech, some for the look, and yes some because they cannot bear to be left out. I would expect that most of those threads were started by the same folks who for months have been telling us it was ugly, over priced, or we should never buy ANYTHING that will ever get an upgrade.

Its totally fine if you do not want it. Not everyone likes or wants the same thing. My question is why are you bothering to come here if you have no interest?

Good question

Just saying. If I was to gauge interest in the Apple watch I'd be scoping out L.A. NY, Boston, San Fran.

Well maybe there's hope then for my pre-order after all.

I hate waiting around for it. Not that I 'wait' at the mailbox. Although, it's kind of nice out......

Orignal iPhone seemed like a luxury over a necessity and extraordinarily expensive too. When i bought mine a few months after release, there was no line or excitement. I just walked in and bought it.

In a couple of generations many of the fence sitters will want one for all of the capabilities that will have been added both through hardware and software.

The original iPhone didn't have, just to name a short list of things:
-GPS or 3G
-multitasking
-copy/paste
-app store

And it was entirely dependent on iTunes for data.

I agree with you.
This feels like it may be an exceptionally useful item in about the 3rd/4th generation of the product.

iPhone really hit its stride at the 4/4s stage I thought

So does anyone else here really have no interest in the Watch at this time?

I was totally underwhelmed after playing with one today in the store here in Boise.

I think the screen needs to be a touch bigger and then when the battery can hopefully last more than just one day I'd maybe think about it, but I haven't been a watch wearer for over a decade and, to me at least, the Apple Watch really didn't do anything to make me want to go back to wearing a watch again either.

Surely I can't be the only one on the forums that feels this way? Am I?

Wow, kudos to you for posting this in here. My experience as well last Sat. The Kool Aid drinkers will attempt to portray you as inept. Be prepared !!! ;)

I actually had the opposite experience. I went to an Apple Store over the weekend and played with a demo model. I liked it much more than I thought I would -- it's really impressive.

Still gonna hold out for v2 with gps ( a key feature for me!) but it's much more tempting than I thought it would be. Very slick.

That may be a bit further off than v2 (space & power constraints & debatable if needed as long as Watch remains so tied to the iPhones)

Well, that would be disappointing. I need on-board gps to be able to justify the purchase as one of my main uses would be for running (I have a Garmin watch I run with now). If it's not in v2 I can keep waiting. Apple watch is very nice but nothing I urgently need.

I honestly think the Apple Watch will not be an instant hit, it will make Apple some money, but nothing like iPhone. This is a new thing, and only people that want to explore new tech things (like myself) will buy it. I am sure Apple Watch will make wearables take off. I am very sure Samsung will have a copy in a very short time, their Galaxy Gear thingies never took off, and they still look horrible. The motorola 360 was just awful, it looked like a tin of tuna strapped to your wrist, and the bottom bit of the display was cut off.
The second generation Apple Watch however will change things in a big way, I am very sure about that. (I will give my first generation one to my other half then....)

You are a minority. If more people had the cash or if it was cheaper. Sales would have been higher.

You understand that there"s a sweet spot were most people buy for the highest possible price.

Also, Apple succeeds by NOT offering cheap (or too cheap) products for two very obvious reasons. The margin would suffer and other companies will compete with the same pricing structure.

If Samsung would start selling its smartwatch starting at 350 and going up to 1200, no one would buy them.

They can sell exactly one version and hope they get a fraction of the market, because cheap competition means lots of cheap models beside yours with similar features.

Especially considering how the tech in Watch Gen 1 will get totally boat raced by v2 in under a year.

On that note, an interesting thought is resale value. I personally am exceptionally turned off by a used Watch compared to other types of tech devices. It's almost up there with "used headphones" in the "totally gross" department. Should be interesting to see how that part plays out. People sweating all over them all day - All sorts of scratches and dings (due to being on a wrist).

I find this a bit odd. The watch is largely metal and metal can be easily cleaned of something like sweat. Maybe don't get the leather band, but other than that the watch is totally hygienic after a nice cleaning.
As for scratches and dings a little light buffing before resale should take care of that. Many people wear high quality watches for decades and they don't get scratched or dinged. Maybe the Aluminum will show scratches, but the SS probably won't. It is hard steel. What is coming at your wrist so hard and fast and sharp that it can scratch steel? And if this is happening you are living dangerously because anything that can scratch steel is going to go into and through your flesh very easily. I hope you don't plan to use your watch to attempt to block bullets like Wonder Woman.

If you had an android phone, you would not comment on android wear... really? really?
If somebody asked me I'd say no.
I wouldn't make a new thread saying "nah I'm not gonna buy it, thanks for listening bye"

Which wasn't the title of this thread either.

Why do people who *do* want the Watch have such a problem with a thread for those who've decided it's not for them at this time?

Can't a forum have both types of conversations?

Why even come in and comment on this thread if it's not your thing?

Plenty of great points and thoughts in there.

I think for me it's mainly a perception thing. Just grosses me out I guess? haha.

Time will tell for sure and no more speculation will be needed! :)

Because there are now lots of threads with the same topic. If you wanted to discuss this, why didn't you post in one of the other threads? Why open a new thread, with the same topic?

The original thread about this was pointless. This one, even more so.

Thank you for posting this. This thread is actually why I was poking around on the site.

I am trying to find why I would need this item in my day to day routine.

One thought is buy the cheapest one and another is don't buy it at all.

The final decision will be made after I see the demo.
