Bill Walton, known for his hyperbole, said of tonight's Game 7: "The fate of the known world is in the balance. … Miss this at your own peril."

Why do broadcasters keep hiring this guy?

Because he's entertaining. Even when he's being a total idiot, the way he says stuff just cracks me up. I mean, you can play a drinking game where you take a drink every time he says "greatest/worst/whatever _____ in the history of the game." I guarantee you'll get totally sloshed... :D

I guess you either love him or you hate him. I never much agree with the content of his commentary, but to me, the delivery is priceless.

Yeah but you don't get idiotic commentators like him in football. He's just way off the wall, and frankly provides no analysis. He only provides insight after the fact which anybody can do. Hindsight is 20/20, but it doesn't mean you're a genius.

Hubie Brown, Snapper Jones, Greg Anthony provide quality insight and opinion. Walton dishes out crap.

Yes you do! John Madden. I can't stand either of them. Madden has even gone as far as to tell you what the guy was thinking when he did something. Both of them are extremely annoying. Personally, I've missed Chuck in the Finals.

Also, take a shot whenever he says, "terrrrrrrrrible."

I completely agree. Madden hasn't been insightful in at least ten years. I've heard him go on about a guy's "cankle" for ten minutes. I saw him use the telestrator on Disneyland once. And God forbid if you were stuck with his Thanksgiving game and had to hear him go on about the damn turkey. He's the most overrated commentator in all of sports.

Madden can be off his rocker. But guys like James Brown, Terry Bradshaw, Jimmy Johnson, Dan Marino, Chris Collinsworth, Troy Aikmen, etc. make up for that.

Well great job for the Spurs. I think Detroit had it going until early in the 4th quarter. Enjoy it Spurs fans.

For the rest of us, there's always next season. To which I say, Go Suns!

That's a wrap.

Thank You

I'd like to thank the Pistons for a hard fought, nail bitting, and nerve wracking series. They are a quality team that shows a lot of heart when their back is up against the wall. Also liked to thank the Pistons fans for not throwing beer at at anyone. But mostly the NBA in general because they averted a lockout like the NHL is going through right now, making sure that we keep having good basketball for a while.... at least until the new collective bargaining agreement expires. I'm sure the Pistons will stick around next season to regain the trophy. As Bruce Bowen put it, "its like seeing your ex girlfriend with a new man". :D

good job for the spurs. They got it done when most people, including myself, didn't think they could. I'm not a pistons fan, but I wanted them to win more because of coach brown. O well, thats the way it goes. NBA season is done means just one thing to me....

NFL season is that much closer. :D :D :D :D

Pistons were great all series but what killed them last night was the fact that sheed, billups, and mcdyess all got into foul trouble. The size of Detroit's defense shrunk througout the game because of that and that's why San Antonio, namely Duncan, was able to capitalize on it. I think Detroit would have had the trophy had they played with all of their starters most of the game. The moment you see guys like Dupree and Campbell stepping on the court for detroit, something's not right.

I don't remember which player it was, but they were interviewing him regarding the fact that he always watches the ESPN replay of the games at like 4:00 am. He said that his wife 'understands'. Sure... Al Michaels comment was he should get a TiVO and get some sleep! :D

That was Chauncey Billups. That guy is a true champion inside. He's one hell of a competitor and probably one of the best point guards in the league today.

He's one of the best leaders there is in the NBA. There are several point guards with better skills but he has great leadership, instincts, and heart. Personally, Tony Parker soldified my opinion of him as a sorry player. He can't perform under pressure (03 vs. Nets, 04 vs. Lakers, 05 vs. Pistons) and constantly makes bad decisions.

Your point guard is supposed to be able to hold onto the ball and create for the rest of the team first. He can't do that. He needs to go to the Chauncey Billups summercamp for NBA point guards.

Heh. To me it means almost 4 long, horrible, arduous months until preseason, and most of that is a BORING summer of nothing but baseball.   Might as well not read the sports section for the next 4 months...

i found it's fun to get into baseball, and football too...most recently over the last few years, i get excited about the march madness madness of college basketball

now all i have to do is get excited about professional hockey

i pretty much get excited when i pick up a sports page on any day, week, or month

i am nothing compared to some true sports fans who can quote stats from all the above sports, and tell me everything about soccor, golf, and even professional wrestling

out of curiosity, can anyone here name a star from all these 20 sports:??

baseball

football
hockey
golf

tennis
soccor
wwe
college basketball
gymnastics

track and field
skiing
chess (a game, i know)
sumo
japanese baseball

rugby
college softball
swimming
diving
ice skating

or how about these 10: ??

pool
bowling
curling
fly fishing
archery
volleyball
deep sea fishing
power lifting
body building

The only thing going Parker's way is his pretty-boy face and Eva Longoria... Other than that, he's not that great of a player and is over rated in my opinion.

Everyone seems to forget that Tony Parker is only 23 and that in itself means that he hasn't matured as a player to handle the big game pressure as a Billups or a Kidd or Nash can. Give this guy a break. Don't know of many people that played pro basketball in France his teen years then went on to play in and win 2 NBA Finals before they were even 25. So all I can say is that Tony has a long ways to go, just dont call him crappy or over-rated too soon.
