This was a battle of two like minded teams. I think Detroit played well, but the Spurs got open and made the shots late that won them the title. If this was a best of 101, they would be playing game 101. No shame in losing to San Antonio, just wish both teams played better in games 1-4.

Congratulations to San Antonio, hope to see you in the finals again next year (even if the rest of the country could care less!)

Everyone seems to forget that Tony Parker is only 23 and that in itself means that he hasn't matured as a player to handle the big game pressure as a Billups or a Kidd or Nash can. Give this guy a break. Don't know of many people that played pro basketball in France his teen years then went on to play in and win 2 NBA Finals before they were even 25. So all I can say is that Tony has a long ways to go, just dont call him crappy or over-rated too soon.

As many years in pro ball as TP has he should be able to the handle the pressure by now. This is the third year in a row he couldn't hack it. He did less than Barry and Horry overall in the series.

His shining moment of the playoffs was rapping in french at the Alamodome.

That may be true, but how many of the NBA's point guards are better than Parker? The list is very short, partly because there aren't that many "pure" point guards in the NBA these days.

Didn't see or here any of the game last Thursday but it sounded like a tight one till the end. I was up at the tip of the Leelanau peninsula waiting to catch a 10 AM ferry to North Manitou Island and around 1:30 AM, I left the campfire and wandered over to the car (of course, getting "the look" from my girlfriend when she figured out what I was doing). Nonetheless, I finaally found a station with coverage and I listened with nerve-wracking intensity trying to figure out who won. After about 5 minutes of commercials, the announcer said "let's bring on George Gervin who has to be ecstatic right now..."

After that, I hoisted a few beers in defeat.

If you want to use "pure" point guard then TP doesn't fall into that. He's more an in between guard with his create for me mentality. I hope he improves and turns into a PG.
