I like math in principle, but I don't like what it does to me. I tend to become very anal retentive when i do a lot of it. When I do linguistics I feel like I'm getting away with something since often there are no definite right answers.

The downside is that you must spend a lot of time supporting your position, you rarely have to convine someone that 1+1=2.

I'm the same way. I love how theres a definite right or wrong answer in math.

They're done, really done... I can't believe it.
Well I said that today would be either really exciting (party!) or really boring (sleep!)...think I'll opt for the latter. Everyone else survive?

I don't know about that. People who only get as far as Calculus and Differential Equations (some drop out much sooner) never get to see the true elegance of what is Math. In fact, some Math professors I know would turn a nose up at 1+1=2...saying "that isn't MATH it's Arithmetic"

Once you get into Number Theory and Abstract Algebra it's so much more fun to look at Groups, Rings, etc that really have little to do with numbers and more to do with geometric patterns, predictable behaviors, and some pretty outlandish concepts; it becomes almost philosophical. There isn't a right or wrong answer, it becomes more a question of process.
