It's interesting that it shows in iTunes on my Mac, but not in the iOS App Store app on my iPad. Not even by doing a search... weird!

It is weird!

The only way i could get it was to go to iCoud.com (on you phone) in safari and it give you an option to install that app. (which bizarrely takes you to the app store where it shows up!?)

did anyone read the "find my friends help" if you go to overview it says you need mobileme subscription paid or free? if they are doing away with MM why didn't they say itunes account or icloud account or something. on the bottom it says you need 4.3 but don't you need 5?

wow how half ass the didn't even finish the help for get directions and contact friend.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3)

Won't this drain the battery if location services are turned on?

I'm really looking forward to this. It will help out BIG time when I'm traveling and when I'm in town visiting friends. Also, will help me keep track of family members too. :D

The timing on this couldn't have been better. Getting married next week with lots of out of town family and friends coming, most of whom have iPhones. I'll just setup a temporary event for the week so everyone can help each other out. "What? You need a ride to the rehearsal? I see so-and-so is near you, I'll just conference him in and see if he can pick you up." "You never got the address of the restaurant? No problem, we're there now. Just look us up and get directions from the Maps app." At the end of the week the event ends and everyone is back to being private again. That's way better than foursquare or facebook places, where all my friends and relatives, who don't know each other, and will probably never meet each other again, would have to all friend each other then remember to unfreind at the end of the week.

Edit to add: One good feature that I hadn't seen mentioned anywhere before is that your iCloud login is required every time you start the app. That is, unless you setup the phone's passcode lock in Settings. Nice balance between convenience and protection from strangers who might seal your friends' phone at a bar.

anyone got this to work, can sign in but when I send a request says problem with my ID. already migrated to cloud...

This is way more creepy than cool. It's one more thing you have to remember to do when you break up with the psycho.

Control freak spouses and helicopter parents rejoice.

I can hear my neighbor now...'she's been at the mall for 2 @@(#*in' hours...WTF is she doing and when is she getting home.'

I can see a limited value to look up someone at certain times. (Traveling in an unfamiliar place, etc.)

But giving somebody the ability to track everywhere I go. No thank you.

When I sign in on my iPhone after signing in on my iPad, it asks me "Share the location of this iPhone instead of "<iPad device name>"? You can change this later in Find my Friends account.

I tap on the Account button, it lets me select an active device.

You also can change the email account you use to allow others to add you as friends. It appears to allow me to select the email accounts I have added in FaceTime or Messages preferences, both of which contain the same iCloud aliases. This must be how the screenshots I saw on Apple's websites had friends with @yahoo.com addresses.

lol apple copying google. this is just like google lattitude.. google should sue!!

unfinished product?

albeit just the help section, may be, see attached. hope this is not a sign of things to come now the great one is gone.

Wow, that is a pretty big miss, wonder how quickly they will pull this version and roll out new one. Even if it is just help section and not functionality, it visually looks like a huge miss.

R.I.P Steve - now we can track your location up in the iCloud, playing Angry Birds with Jesus :apple:

Steve Jobs was a Zen Buddhist, and Jesus is fake. See also: Santa Claus for grown ups.

infact, according to your god, Steve Jobs went to hell. lol I love religion.

already posted this almost an hour ago. on the first page of help it says it works with 4.3 also

When I clicked on the links from my iPhone, it said I couldn't download this and the Airport Utility app because I don't have iOS5 yet. However, I was able to download both by clicking on the same links via my MacBook Pro. Just FYI in case anyone was having the same problem I was. :)

EDIT: Ehh, it won't sync to my iDevices, so I guess it's not really a workaround, hehe.
