The Finder sidebar disk icons for TB4 or USB drives apart from the Sytem drive all show odd application icons.

They keep changing in each machine.

Has anybody seen this? How do I clear it?

I had this problem too as soon as I upgraded to Tahoe. The above fixed it but it does keep coming back. Its a pain in the ass.

There's a ton of weird inconsistency in how icons work in the latest OS releases, particularly Tahoe. The 'Customize Folder' feature shipped really half baked and it could simply be that the Finder icon stuff needs much more work.

This happened to me too. (An app called "New File Menu" specifically, a temporary solution seems to be disabling -Add the "New File" context menu to external drives- in the app's Settings-Finder). I also heard that some Adobe software also cause this problem.

APPLE, Please fix this!!! Icons in Finder sidebar is already broken enough that have all kinds of weird quirks from time to time even before Tahoe.

26.3.1 increment update did not help.

I also get Creative Suite icons. I've just downgraded to Sequoia and everything was fine but as soon as I installed Creative Suite again the same problem occurred so its not Tahoe related.

I did speak to Adobe about this and they said they're not aware of anyone else reporting the issue so might be worth letting them know so they can look at a fix because all they told me was to restart the Mac which does work but not for long.
