I'm trying to reset all folder and file lists, including customized views, displayed in Finder. I want them to look as if I had just booted a band new Mac from Apple.

Can anyone tell me how to do this? I'm using MacOS 15.6.1

I've deleted ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
I couldn't find com.apple.sidebarlists.plist to delete it

Also tried this way...

  1. Open Spotlight: Press Command (⌘) + Space bar to open Spotlight Search.
  2. Launch Terminal: Type "Terminal" and press Enter to open the Terminal application.
  3. Delete Finder Preferences: In the Terminal window, type the following command exactly as it appears, then press Enter:
defaults delete com.apple.finder

  1. Restart the Finder: After the command executes, type the following and press Enter:
killall Finder

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You can try deleting both com.apple.finder.plist and com.apple.sidebarlists.plist (if it exists) while Finder is closed, then restart Finder with killall Finder in Terminal. That usually forces it to rebuild with default settings. If it still doesn’t look fresh install clean, creating a new user account might be the easiest way to confirm the default Finder layout.
