Well I ran a system restore off my backup last night and it seems to be working now. It's running rather slow but I think that's just because it's retrieving all my mail messages.

I wish I knew what happened though, I'd like to know. I deleted any apps I had from my clean out but I've noticed that my space available is still higher then it was right after I finished cleaning which worries me a bit. I like the extra space but is there any reason this number would have gone up?

It's probably just temporary files like caches, logs, etc. You could use OnyX (or Cocktail, etc.) to clean out those type things if you wish.

I know that you're concerned that it's a virus, but really there aren't any viruses for OS X. AFAIK most if not all of the Mac anti-virus software just looks for PC viruses to keep Macs from spreading them to PC users. There are a couple of Trojan horse type things, but unless you've been running unknown installers and giving them your password you shouldn't have any of those.

I've been GAINING like 10 gigs worth of free space per day though. How could caches be giving me more space? and at this pace. Stuff must be getting deleted somewhere for this much space to be coming back. Unless Finder is just glitching and saying I have more space then I do.

I've never looked after my free space on a daily basis so I don't really have any idea. I don't think many people are reading this topic, maybe if you started a new topic with a question about this space phenomenon you'll get an answer. Sorry I can't be of any more help.
