After just talking about how vintage Apple never pops up on my local Craigslist, I was very happy to eat my words this evening. Scored this BOXED 20" Cinema Display for $30!

I recently saw a 23" ACD go for $30 off of Facebook marketplace. Incidentally, I also sold a boxed 23" ACD for about $30. It went cheap because the power supply was dead. Otherwise, the going rate for a 23" with power supply is about $100 give or take some.

Apple Cinema displays are actually pretty cheap on eBay. You just have to make sure you get a good one. There's a lot of beat up ACDs out there.

That surprises me. Every Alu 23" ACD I had ever seen, mostly in Apple Stores, had a pronounced pink cast. Apple never seemed to fix that. That these are still fetching any sort of money is a real surprise.

How's about this 20" cinema display then which I've just seen advertised on a local site at 500euros!!
Now, don't all rush to buy it!

That's an extremely not-so-cool 573 US dollars!! I wonder what the seller is smoking....?
This model is often offered free here with Mac Minis, or if for sale up to a max of 80 euros.

Whatever he's smoking – must be good stuff :p Jokes aside, when it comes to these acrylic displays, it's either 23" or nuffin' :)

In Italy people think they can charge $$ just because it has an Apple on it and it is old, no matter what it is and the condition it is in...

Was the acrylic offered in a 23" screen size? I only thought it was available in a 22" size.

People ask such ridiculous prices for these older items. Locally there's a guy trying to sell a 2003 2.0GHz Dual Processor PowerMac for $100. I offered him $35 for it. He told me to go pound sand, said I didn't know the value of the system. I responded with "Yes, I do which is why I offered you $35 for it". A month later and it's still for sale.

I own 2 so I think there was, indeed.

The first was a 22" and a 17". The updated versions were the 23" and 20" before Apple went all aluminium.
First, there was the 22" with straight DVI (1999). Then, the 22" with ADC came along with the 15" with ADC (2000). Then came the 17" with ADC (2001), the 23" with ADC (2002) and lastly, the 20" ADC (2003).

Don't forget the often-forgotten 17" CRT in the mix also.

I'm using a 23" acrylic on my Mac Pro 5,1. It's starting to show its age next to the 27" Cinema I use as the primary display, but it does work and will keep working until I can get another 27".

You're right of course, I had my mind set on the LCDs.

I have three 23"s and one 20". Two of the 23"s are in regular use – one on my main system (MacBook Pro 8,1) and another on my PowerBook (5,6); the other two are kept as spares. Of course they're showing their age but I find them still adequate for my uses and gorgeous to look at.

I was unaware of the 23" model. I thought they moved to a 23" display with the release of the aluminum models.

The unit I was selling was in exceptionally good condition the dead power supply and yellow tint aside. An average one wouldn't have even come close to $100. I sold it a while back so I got some details mixed up. I meant that ones in the kind of condition mine was in were fetching somewhere in the $80 and up range.

The one that I sold did have a color tint, but it was a yellow cast not a pink one. It wasn't a big issue becauseit could be fixed by adjusting the color temperature white point to 9000K. It's lack of brightness was more of an issue. It was the earlier model that topped out at 250 nits (or something like that). It wasn't very bright, but it was bright enough to use comfortably and with the color temperature adjustment the image looked pretty good nonetheless.

I did also sell a 30" ACD as well and I was really surprised how much I got for it. I was hoping to get $300 for it. It went for $500, but as was the case with my 23" one, it was in exceptionally good cosmetic condition.
