Finewoven cases in hand on videos?

I originally got the green one then returned it at the store yesterday for the blue because it was too dark. They aren’t as nice as the leather cases, but I don’t think they’re as bad as the YouTubers are saying. It is hard to get a feel for them without outing a phone inside, obviously they’re floppy without being on a phone.

I like the blue and the fabric feels nice. As nice as the leather, no, but better than silicone in my opinion. I agree they should be cheaper but they shouldn’t be the price as the silicone, these are nicer and feel very thin in the hand.

Durability will be a question, but I like how they feel so far. I think a lot of people complained about the new leather (12 on) because it didn’t patina the same. They coated it with something and people thought they got dirty when it was really just the leather wearing down. I know people here knew, but I bet Apple got a lot of returns from more casual users when they started to wear down on the edges. Maybe that’s why they came up with something new? I don’t know, we’ll see how these wear!

Of course YMMV, and you shouldn't settle for what doesn't meet your standards. But these cases are being met with the same vitriol that virtually every Apple product gets upon launch, mostly sight unseen. I may end up disliking these cases, I have no idea, but I'm willing to give them a chance. If a click bait YT video turns you off, you do you. There will be plenty of options out there.

Your review is meaningless because you opened it, determined it was junk without even putting a phone in it and then returned it. That is a meaningless review. You should start a YouTube channel.

Although I think the problem is also that Apple’s positioning this as a leather replacement. When you put it like that, it looks even worse.

It looks terrible without any comparison, wouldn't matter if leather never existed. FW case is worse than the cheap 10 buck cases on Amazon.

Just received my Taupe FineWoven case in the mail. It definitely falls into the minimalist category in my opinion. Thin and light. The buttons seem like they will work well similar to other apple cases. The back almost reminds me more of a fabric vs a suede. Not a true test per se but I put the case in my front pocket a few times and dragged it over a dog hair ridden blanket and so far don't see any debris catching in the fabric.

I do wonder though how the case reacts to dark liquid spilled on it. Does the polyester absorb the liquid and cause a permanent stain or does it repel the liquid away? I'll probably wait till my phone arrives next Friday before ultimately making the decision on keeping or returning.

As far as whether it's worth $60..... there is definitely a significant "Apple Brand" premium built into the price for sure but whether or not its worth it..... that is highly subjective to the individual consumer's disposable income in my opinion. Sixty dollars can mean two very different things to two very different people. It's something people will just have to weigh against their own budget. I'd recommend checking them out in person at a store if you are on the fence.

I did also order another more heavy duty case with a built in kick stand. It arrives tonight so for now I plan to hold onto both cases till phone arrives. Two very different types of cases so I could see just keeping both if I like how they hold the phone. (Or hell if they're both terrible with the phone in I just return both and start over. 😂🤣😂)
