Okay, everybody start piling on.

March 7th, hence calendar icon 7. That is my guess. :D

I think 9.7" is a perfect screen size. I wouldn't want it any bigger or any smaller.

God, as ridiculous as that sounds, it's a valid prediction.

March 2nd could have been chosen specifically for iPad 2 like they could have chosen March 7 for the 7".
At the same time that they introduce the Retina Display iPad, they could introduce the iPad 7" which uses the old resolution.
Everyone's distracted by the display and home button that they could have missed the correlation.

I think a 7" iPad is more likely than a home buttonless iPad. I only want the normal 10" but I welcome a 7" since it'll expand the market to those people who want a smaller tablet.

To be more correct, the invitation means this (obviously)

Hmm.. makes sense, see how many times the number three appears? I definitely think it will be called an iPad 3 and not just a 2s.

I'm guessing that this is one of those "Gee. I wonder what it's like to have my own thread that's popular(kinda)?" threads. :D

Really this is how you spend your time?
You mean because he's "wasting time" posting on a message board just like you are?

We've got a week before the announcement, a few weeks until product release and then the next following month will be an overflow of overly-defensive/overly critical/redundant posts. So if this is bugging you already then what will you do when things get crazy?

Yeah, that's exactly what I was going for. I was never popular in highschool, so I figure Macrumors is the next best thing.

+1. It's not completely out of the realm of possibility.

Waste your time just waste it with some style man.

Agreed, for some reason I don't see the iPad as the first iDevice to be "home buttonless" - I could certainly see Apple doing that in the iPhone 5 though.

I'm so glad this is a joke... :roll eyes:

Read it on the home page and instantly thought macrumors forums had decayed significantly in the last 4 years.

LOVE the explanation picture :D

What seems a more parsimonious hypothesis -

Calendar, March 7 = March 7, the ANNOUNCED date of iPad 3 introduction

Or

7 = seven inch iPad which is REALLY just a rumor, as in not going to happen now.

When you hear hoofbeats outside the window, don't look for zebras...:D

A 7 inch iPad would be a no-mans-land device:

Too big to fit in your pocket.
Too small to do anything production on.

What makes better sense is a 4.5 inch iPhone to cater to those who want a slighter larger device. But I do agree that Apple needs to fill the gap between the iPad and iPhone. I'm so used to the iPad that whenever I look at an iPhone I need to squint.
