I've never used a code because I find it a nuisance. I am looking forward to upgrading to get a fingerprint sensor, since it really does seem to be the best of both worlds.

...and that's why it's a God send. Many people, myself included, never or rarely used any security in the past and now, with the fingerprint scanner, they do.

It works the vast majority of the time, is virtually instant, and, once it's set up, is something that you don't have to think about.

I think it is a nice feature but is not that impressive. I think i definitely makes android user turn there heads toward apple to see whats happening.

Fingerprint scanner: gimmick or god send?

Should you be able to see the slide down notifications without the finger scan? Defeats object a bit doesn't it as you can see half the email

I actually think that touch ID is way less gimmicky than Siri was when the 4s first came out. What about you?

Greed. After I was done plying with the Easter eggs I turned her off.

I've had the 5s for 2 weeks and now the scanner is habit.

My scanner is working less and less. So many times during the course of the day it doesn't work and I have to input the PIN. Anyone else on 5S getting cheesed off with it, out of interest?

It doesn't come up with the try again thingy, it doesn't even offer that. It's just the slide to open which is different to the fingerprint not taking. That isn't the problem. It's getting worse and worse

You might try to make sure the home button is clean, and rescan your fingers. If you like, scan several fingerprint slots to your thumb.

I have three set to my right thumb, and it works almost every time. It works very often with my other two fingers I have set as well.

I'm incredibly satisfied with the fingerprint scanner. I never used a passcode unlock on a phone before, but the scanner has made it a much better experience.

When doing several scans as mentioned by Jws;18736901
do the thumb at different times. One after washing your hands, one during work, one when your hands are dirty. This should help out as peoples hands change.

Thanks guys. I've tried that. The list of prints it has. Can I delete them all and start again. Doesn't look like there's a delete option or have I missed something there? I have list of Finger 1 to 4

Under fingerprints, swipe finger 1, 2 or 3 to the left and you will see the delete option.
