Funny, I tried it earlier on my linux box and most of my extensions came up disabled but after reading the message from Bousozoku I decided to try the mac version. Great, most of my extesions worked out of the blocks. Most importantly Adbock and Flashblock. Looks like I'll be pounding on 2b2 for a while.

There actually was a Firefox extension called TabBrowser Extensions or TabBrowser Plus or something like that, that was deprecated at some point, that had this feature several years ago. But it got kind of clogged up... after a while it would really slow the browser down for some reason. But it's a great feature.

If you're looking only to manage (save and restore) sessions, look at Session Manager - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2324/

Try Tab Mix Plus - it has many tab related features plus session restore.

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1122/
"Tab Mix Plus enhances Firefox's tab browsing capabilities. It includes such features as duplicating tabs, controlling tab focus, tab clicking options, undo closed tabs and windows, plus much more. It also includes a full-featured session manager with crash recovery that can save and restore combinations of opened tabs and windows."

I've used Tab Mix Plus for a long time and like it.

I use the G5 optimized version of 1.5 from Beatnik. Works great. I'd upgrade to 2, he even has a Beta of 2 himself, but there's one extension I can't live without that still isn't compatible, Image Toolbar. Don't know if he's not updating it or what. Ok, I could live without it... but I'd rather not have to.

I've used 2 on other machines though, and I like it even better than 1.5. Sorry Safari.

I don't know if this is possible, but this problem started right after I started using firefox 2 beta (about 3 days ago). After a couple of hours of having firefox open, my internet dies. My cable modem says it's connected, other macs, wirelessly connected as well, still work fine. Quitting firefox doesn't help - the only way I've been able to get back online is by rebooting. My machine is running 10.4.7 with 1gb of ram.

As far as my other impressions of this new firefox, it's a little slower to load, a little more sluggish feeling, but it seems to render pages a little more quickly. One feature I liked that they brought over from safari is the little close box in each tab. It's much faster than right clicking a tab to close it, or bringing it to the front then hitting command-w. It also looks a little less boring.

I would urge all of you to try out minefield. It is an aqua version of firefox 2. It is faster than camino, and it has applespell. Also, you can get all the plugins and extensions. However, use this at your own risk since it is very much not complete.

Minefield Project Page

I can't wait until this is released software. The main thing that keeps me from using FireFox is the wierdness of the interface not being truly Aqua (and the slowness, I suppose, so that's 2).

I've found my first annoyance with Firefox 2. I was on eBay Motors looking at a car just now and when I clicked on a link to a picture, instead of opening it in a new, smaller window, it opened it in a new tab and resized the entire browser window on it's own. I know I could fix this problem in the preferences by making it open links in new windows, but I don't wanna do that. Does anyone know of an extension that would help?

How about right-click and select "Open link in new window"?

I took the plunge and downloaded it. Working great! *taps desk* much much faster then other Firefox lets hope it continues to work well :D

I downloaded a nightly of BonEcho from the 17th and I was shocked. Flash content is fast and interaction is great.

According to the calendar, release candidate 1 of Firefox version 2 is due a week from this Tuesday. I suspect a lot of people are going to be very pleased in the changes.

Awesome. Can't wait to see the improvements!

Beta 2 is good enough, IMO, to be a release candidate. At least from my experience it is.

I found enough little problems (text sizing mostly) that I was daring enough to download one nightly and when that became too weird, this one.

I used Camino a lot over the last couple of days and I know that I don't want to have any Flash content on pages when I use Camino. It makes Firefox version 1.5.0.6 look like a speed demon. I also noticed that the scroll bar was leaving traces as if it wasn't really native. Hmmm...

If all people want are fancy buttons, Firefoxy should catch up with Firefox version 2.

The only problem I noticed on FF beta 2 is that if I left it open for a while, some of the images wouldn't load fully....... then again that mighta just been the sites.

I'm really enjoying this Beta2, really nice. Can't wait for the release to come out (next week?).

The full release won't be out until October, I believe. Next week is just a release candidate, which means, if there are no problems, they could release that version.

bousozoku, odd question maybe, but: In the nightly, if you have an empty search engine field, and then change to another search engine, does the search field come into focus? (It doesn't do this on my Beta 2, just goes blank and focus is "somewhere else", unless there's a former search in the field already then it's ok; this is one of very few annoyances I've got from Beta 2.) :)

Yes, the search field is the focus afterwards.

Has anyone had any crashings with the new Firefox 2? I am willing to try it I just remember the last version I had crashed every 5 minutes. That was a few weeks ago this is probably the new beta

Mine would freeze up during many pop-ups and require a force quit. Thankfully the restore session feature was a lifesaver. Also for some reason printing now makes the app just completely quit, even downgrading to 1.5 the problem hasn't gone away.
