well back on topic, firefox/any other browser on the (unjailbroken) ipod: not a chance in hell. Apple wouldnt let other browsers onto their device, even through the app store, which i guess would be the only way to develop such a thing in a legit way. A browser would surely violate the terms of the SDK.

Hmm

I totally understand Apple's wanting to keep only their browser on an iPod or iPhone, but don't customers dictate what a company does? I would assume there are a lot out there who would like to see Firefox for to the iPod Touch/iPhone.

If I recall Mozilla thinks its a no-go, and thats basically what everyone believes, but its not spelled out "No other web browsers" in the SDK.

Of course, things can never be simple! :)

lol apparantly your not familiar with the way apple does things.

apple has a knack of making people love the products they offer, regardless of flaws

if you cant have core functionalites of the device, theres no way to get a new browser running.

The SDK is very well written as to make sure apple keeps anything out it doesnt want, while still being nice about it lol

You Are Right!

"apple has a knack of making people love the products they offer, regardless of flaws"

You are right. But, maybe, just this once Apple will come around! :D

Although I would prefer Firefox rather than Safari, it does not really bother me that much. I like how Mobile Safari is quite minimalistic. I recently somewhat embraced Buddhism (I'm Jewish so I guess this would make me a JuBu) so I only carry 3 keys with me, an iPod (without a case) a Card Case containing 4 cards and a cellphone. I tell you, I feel so much more relaxed!

firefox

porting firefox to the iPhone or iPod Touch is possible, but unrealistic. Firefox is designed to run on a modern computer, it would be extremely slow. The version of safari is optimized for the iPhone, not only for the hardware specs but for the touch interface.

I would just like to not use google for my search engine for my iPod touch. I'm sick to death of google and the garbage that it is now..so if Mozilla doesn't have a web browser, does anybody know of others?

Safari. You can change the default search engine to Yahoo or Bing in the Safari settings in the Settings app.
