I've found that anything saved in Safari that is at 480x320 will be fine when viewed in the photo app. Even 480x272 works, so it might be best to reformat anything you want to view as 480x???

As I said in another thread - The only way I've found around this is to use a photo app like Flex PhotoLab to open and then resave the photo without making any adjustments. Then the photos will show non-blurry in the photo viewer.

Not the best solution but until Apple provides a fix it will do.

Is anyone else having problems with saving photos attached from the mail app and coming out blurry when viewing them in the photos app? It started doing this after I updated to the new iPhone 2.2 firmware.

Yes, everybody does when using the 2.2 version! They should advice people about the consequences, but they didn't... :(
I usually expect to receive more from an upgrade, not less!
From that point of view, the 2.0 version was better.

I agree. I have no idea why Apple hasn't fixed this right away. This is not an obscure problem, but one that is widely documented. Why do we have to wait until 2.3? Why couldn't they just have put out a 2.2.1 a week later? There is not really professional. We shouldn't have to wait a few months for a quick fix.

Same here. Got a picture from sister from her iphone in email, saved it and it's low reslolution=blury when zoomed. Open in Safari it high quality. Pictures were saved full quality on 2.1 but on 2.2 pics are low resolution. It's plainly unacceptable. I always get pictures from my family.

Finally. Its pretty bad that they screwed something up that worked before and then took months to fix it. Its pretty bad that even my parents complained about the issue.

This fix probably took a day or 2 to actually make. The difference is, for whatever reason (laziness, complacency, just not caring), Apple sat on this fix for months. However, when they truly had to come out with an update (that is, to break the Emoji hack and to break Yellowsn0w), they decided to thrown it in to not look like total asses.

I still have Emoji.

I received an email with a large picture (3073 x 2304) and saved it in my iPhone. When I opened it up the picture was blurry. My iPhone firmware version is 2.2.1, so this issue is still not fixed.

I also had this same problem but with the latest firmware update the problem has gone away.

Any real update on this issue?

I have trouble with all my imported photos...

I have an aperture folder of iphone wallpapers (480x320)... I sync that folder to my phone through itunes... Anyway, all these synced images show up blurry on the iPhone since the last update... They used to come across crystal clear.

It's a weird problem- pics taken with the iphone look great, but all imported/synced/transferred pics look like crap.

(i've tried varying the sizes with no improvement)

maddening.
