‘Can’t wait for this’, ‘can’t wait for that’; it won’t do anything differently from current models. …
Nice rant and you’ve even got a few likes to confirm your frustration with Apple.

But improved thermal efficiency is exactly what’s needed to reduce wear on the battery and prolong its lifetime while keeping its full capacity.

So I can’t agree with you. This innovation is very welcome and a good sign that the -engineers are doing their job. Thanks Tim! 🙏😊

Wow! Didn't expect all those angry and disparaging comments when I called X a toxicc cesspool. If I were you, I'd get out of the pool. You're already showing signs of poisoning!

Eating my words... I love the size of my mini, but the battery has been grinding my gears lately. Will be upgrading to a 16 Pro; this battery news is welcoming.

The overheating issue was because of IOS 17, not the a17 Pro chip specifically. Older iphones on IOS 17 were also experiencing the same issue until IOS 17.03 was released. My 15 Pro came with IOS 17.03 out of the box, and no heat issues whatsoever.
I had all the betas and iOS17 with my iPhone 13 and it was not boiling…

I had it day one with faulty iOS17 boiling battery and I suspect it degraded my battery health, showing 100% but I’m sure it didn’t do any good to be a volcano so got it couldn’t charge anymore.

Lighter and less hot is always better. I want an iPhone that doesn't weigh like a brick. Let's get back to the low 100s in terms of grams.
Low 100s in grams for a new model is definitely not coming anytime soon if ever. I know some people have their mini dreams and I can’t say I blame them each time I have to hold my Mom’s 13 mini to help her with something.

I don't know, the last few iPhones and the Titanium design does point to Apple wanting to cut down on weight, without compromising size. The 15 is remarkably lighter than the 11, and lighter too than the 12, 13, 14. 15 pro is the lightest pro ever. Graphene may be another step in shaving off weight, which could come to both models.

I think Apple needed a “reset” with the weight because they knew they would have to increase the weight again. The titanium bought them breathing room. Rumors are pointing towards a weight increase from the current 187g on the 15 Pro to 194g with the 16 Pro for example. Personally, I would be fine with Apple using aluminum on the 16 Pro/Pro Max to further reduce the weight.

My iPhone 15 pro barely does half the day when my iPhone 13 was very good at battery life, it was burnin hot until the fix came, charge on official MagSafe is ultra slow, so I am not surprised they added a heat dissipator, it’s really really bad for a phone like that I never had any trouble with iPhones and I wish I could go back.

I want that battery to be 3year free of charge if needs replacement Apple you know you did this wrong!

I wanted to buy Apple care but they should give it to me already that thing is faulty.
You had 14 days, why did you not return it? I think you may just be trolling, since you do not need Apple care [sic] because you would still be under free warranty if you actually bought an iPhone 15 Pro and "that thing is faulty."

My experience using the 15 PM hard is nothing like you claim. My 13 pro had good battery life, my 14 Pro had good battery life and my 15 PM has better battery life.

5 iphone 15 pro maxs, all different colors, and all of them overheating like crazy. Scrolling caused the screen to skip like its running 5fps. I was trying to sell the iPhones overseas and had to convince a dude this was a new apple feature just so he'd buy it 🤣
Funny you repeatedly have this consistently awful 15 PM experience and yet tens of millions of other buyers like me just get a great 15 PM phone. Perhaps you need some phone tech guidance and should go to an Apple Store.

And very nice a$$kissing right there!

Not implying innovation is not needed. However, as to whether engineers are doing their job or otherwise is none of my business. I’m enjoying my 15PM - no complaints. I paid nearly 1.500€ for this phone (Apple making a handsome profit off my purchase). So, the days of glorifying over these incremental updates sugarcoated in fine and, often deceitful, language is over for me.

But, you seriously think this will prolong the lifetime of the battery “while keeping its FULL capacity”? 😂 I have a bag of sand to sell to you.

You yourself made the questionable decision to pay way too much for a maximized "Pro" phone of a well-known luxury brand in its release month. And somehow that's still Apple's fault for offering a product you enjoy and have no complaints about?

Am I going crazy or the internet. 🙄

PS: Yes, I do indeed believe that heat severely shortens the lifetime of a battery and therefor heat dissipation is crucial to prolonging its lifetime.

The metal heat spreaders and possibility to tightly mechanically interface the battery with the chassis could make a huge difference with improving Q' (thermal flux). I agree that this could improve battery life, make charging times faster, and decrease CPU thermal throttling in high use cases like gaming or video recording. Batteries need heatsinks and thermal interface materials too! Image how close the battery is to the CPU.

It's pretty obvious that this is just a bridge to the future when a true new battery technology emerges to replace the ubiquitous Li-ion polymer used in all rechargeble electronics today. There are exciting developments in using graphene instead of Lithium gel, and even solid state batteries. Ramping up production will bring the cost down to comparable levels for both technologies when their specs are finalized. It's a sure bet that Apple is in the thick of these emergent battery advances.

I would even apply thermal paste before screwing the battery onto the frame of the phone. With the ever more popular fast chargers, a lot of heat must leave the battery as quickly as possible.

they don't really need to improve thermals. the new 3nm chip should be more efficient and it's not like there is anything wrong with the a17 pro. had my 15 pro max since day 1 and it hardly gets warm.

i just see this as an excuse for apple to raise the price again.
It’s more efficient at the same power levels but that doesn’t mean it can’t use more power or generate more heat.

Let’s say the A16 hits 6 FilthFlarns at 100% power, the A17 Pro may reach 6 FilthFlarns at 80% power. When running at 100% of its limit the A17 Pro uses more power and generates more heat than the A16 ever could, reaching 9 FilthFlarns at 100%.

Not to mention, every change they make one year benefits future iPhones. Making this change now probably makes the manufacturing costs lower for iPhone 17 or whatever they want to call it.

(units of measurement are not real, obviously.)

Sounds like a minor improvement at best, while searching for better battery tech, such as graphene or solid state.

BUT: Can you believe anything you read on X these days? It's a cesspool of lies, disinformation and the lowest forms of human behavior, all of it heartily endorsed by its owner.
I left they some time ago but only because it was a time suck. Curate your feed. People have opinions, you don’t have to agree with them.
