I was skeptical about Face ID when the X came out. I loved my Touch ID. A week later, I was a total convert. Face ID is superior is every way to Touch ID.

Except when yiu have a hat and glasses on it doesnt work.

what network are u on, i wanna see how big of a improvement is the new intel modem

I'm on AT&T, personally, though I know one other guy who's on Verizon; he says his experience is much the same as mine is.

To clarify what I mean by my house being notoriously tough to get a signal in.....

My house has 6" walls, steel siding, except for our bedroom, which is a new extension at one end of our house. The wall between our bedroom and the rest of our house is 14". (Yes, you read that right. Our bedroom is our old carport, and it was like $3K cheaper to simply build a wall on the side of the old outside of the house). SO, any signals to our bedroom have to go through two 6" walls, with steel siding in-between. Cellular reception has to go through the 6" wall with steel siding.

With my XS, I got maybe 1 bar in the bedroom; and if I was LUCKY I might be able to maintain a Wi-Fi connection.

With the 11? Cellular reception is easily 3 bars, and Wi-Fi is one notch below max reception. I can easily make and maintain calls, and maintain a moderate to strong Wi-Fi signal.

I'm now @ work, which is in a brick-sided steel building. Previously, I was lucky if I got 2 bars, and if a webpage loaded eventually. Now? They load in about 2 to 3 seconds; reception is at least 1 to 2 bars better.

The way I see the screen and its bezels makes me feel like the 11 and last years xr is why it feels cheaper. The bezel difference from the normal oled phones and even the older lcd phones just looks much better. The bezel size really makes me not want anything to do with that phone.

I bought an iPhone 11 pro yesterday. I have an iPhone Xsmax. I have not tried the camera yet, but my initially response is that the speed, feel etc., are very minute compared to the iPhone Xsmax. FaceID is faster for sure. The only negative is that the backside of the iPhone Xsmax was much more shiny (glassy?) compared to the iPhone 11 pro, which looks like a bit metallic, but no luxurious. In hindsight, I don't think the 10smax to 11 Pro was worth it at all. But i use this as a business expense for my own LLC and so I bought it because of the tax benefit. If I would not buy if I was going to buy from an after tax salary account.

The elimination of Bezels coming from the 6s plus to the 11 is also staggering. I constantly compare the two side by side and can’t believe how drastic the difference is. Those old bezels did take up an extraordinary amount of space above and below the screen. It’s also amazing how the footprint of the 11 is smaller than the 6s plus despite having a larger screen.

Like others have said you'll get used to it just give it time. Coming from a 6s plus you are not going to adjust in one day. Give it at least 2 weeks and if you still feel the same way then return it. I dont think the 11 looks or feels cheap at all. Obviously it isnt as premium as the Pro models but definitely better built than the 6s IMO. I do agree that even though the screen is technically bigger it still "feels" smaller compared to the Plus models. Thats the main reason I went with the XS Max last year. I didnt really want a large phone but the width makes typing alot easier.

I also came from the 6S Plus to my new 11 Pro Max, this past weekend. Overall I love it, especially as I adapted to it over the past few day.

But I will mention the biggest negative for me is that the 11 is much less friendly to one-handed use. FaceID works well, but that swipe-up takes extra time and usually an extra hand, and overall use of the phone has become more of a two-handed phone, unfortunately.

Likewise, I have to reach down the screen further to get to the keyboard, whereas the old iPhone 6-8 bezels helped give some balance in the hands.

I find the opposite because the plus phones screens have square edges like a laptop or traditional monitor so I'm only looking at the screen and not aware of top or bottom bezels, only the side ones. It displays content in a traditional way.

Because the 11 has curved corners I'm more aware of the bezel found around the whole screen especially when scrolling as you see the screen appear from the rounded edges.

This is much less pronounced on the Pro models because the screen is nearly edge to edge so it feels like you just holding a screen.

The 11 does look more modern and compelling when compared from the front but it's the real world usage that makes the differences.

We got a few 11's in at work, and they look anything but cheap, especially compared to a 6s. They're quite impressive in person. But everything Apple makes tends to feel that way when it comes out.

So, my first impression is: amazing device for me. I don’t see any differences between the 8 plus and 11 display and I already knew that I like FaceID because my iPad Pro. Much better than TouchID because the using is more intuitive. I don’t need to press a button when I want to autofill a password.

I'll chime in - just upgraded from an 8 Plus to an 11 even though I kept saying I wasn't going to...I've enjoyed just about everything (the camera was the biggie, but other little things like eSIM, extra space, NFC tag support, were nice). My 8 Plus was the model with the Qualcomm modem and things have mostly felt similar signal-wise on AT&T.

I went 4->5->6->SE->8 Plus->11, so I've jumped back and forth on sizes. For the people who came from the Plus models, the XR/11 are odd in that they're an in-between the non-Plus and Plus models, but I feel like I generally get a bit more content (text, lists, etc.) even though the screen is narrower.

In terms of feel/build-quality, it's very similar to my 8 Plus (glass back, aluminum sides, etc.), so I have no complaints there - this feels like a natural evolution of the design started with the 6.

It's also brought some consistency across my most-used devices. The side-button for Apple Pay brings it in line with my watch, the swipe-up for home/status bar/Control Center setup is the same as all the iPads. I have no issues with Face ID, (I have an iPad Pro at work with it), so the odd one out is my less-used personal iPad (a fifth-gen). I may have just stared at the screen for a second when the Touch ID prompt came up.

Did you find yourself missing that 2X camera? I also came from the 8 Plus and I miss it.

I came from an 11 Pro and love the slightly bigger screen and heft. Not a huge fan of the max devices so this is just right. I don't think it looks and feels cheap at all, but I also don't care what others think. If you are judging me based on my phone choice, then you've got bigger problems to worry about.

Hmm not sure yet. I bought an iPhone 11 today. At first I didn't want to, I wanted to hold on to my dear iPhone 6s plus for another year and still works great albeit the battery of course since I never changed it.

I went for the 11 because I really like the green colour and the new camera tempted me.

Now that it's in my hands (and after having some issues setting it up) I notice the phone it's smaller than my 6sPlus and looks cheaper.. the screen it's a bit longer but it's narrower .

I don't like face Id that much... I prefer Touch ID to be honest

The camera seems to be better. that's good. I don't feel the 11 is much heavier, I can hardly notice . It doesn't bother me either that it's slightly thicker
it's true , the notch it's annoying...
I think I will miss my 6s plus.. expect the ugly antenna bars at the back

Did you have to order it and wait, or was it available at the store? I went in last weekend to my carrier to buy a 64 Gb iPhone 11 and have to wait until late next week for it to arrive.

Not yet, but I don't think I used it as much as I thought I would. I have to keep remembering to use the 0.5x camera instead of stepping back now. I do like the lower-light performance—I feel like in my living room with lamps (3 Hue White bulbs), my 8 Plus seemed to do worse than some prior phones (lots of fuzzy texturing), but the 11 has been fine.

I ordered online , apple store, pick up in store same day. I guess it depends where you live.

My experience was the same last Friday when I got mine. I tagged along when a friend preordered and picked up at launch day, and it was the usual queues and appointments. I was going to be good and skip this update, changed my mind a week later, and ordered it online around noon for a 2pm pickup appointment. They seemed to have plenty of stock at my local Apple Store and things were moving quickly (the appointments felt like more of a formality, rather than necessary).

Carrier stores may be hit and miss, especially if they're authorized resellers/third-parties. It's been ages since I bought from one, but I seem to recall that the corporate-owned AT&T and Verizon stores in our area always seemed to have better stock in the past.

Not true at all. The only time I have issues is when I'm wearing my mirrored weed trimming sunglasses. Never had a problem with any other pair. Works great with hats, beanies, beard, etc.

I feel like the 11 is more "premium," but that's a subjective assessment and your view is the one that matters. It's silly, though, to try to talk yourself into paying hundreds of dollars to switch to something you don't like, or even that you are unsure about. If your 6S is going strong, why not keep using that and hold out for next year's phones?
