Probably the most controversial speaker ever.
So many people getting bent out of shape because they think everyone else should care about and agree with their opinion of this speaker.![]()
It was the same thing when the Apple Watch came out, I remember people telling me it was never going to be a success and that I’d just wasted my money, I’ve learned to just ignore those comments now.
And I’ll just walk in a buy one next Friday. And test it before hand.
There’s probably a tiny bit of latency - watching movies and YouTube is fine but I bet playing games would drive me nuts.I wonder how well the HomePod would work as a dedicated computer speaker. I like the fact that it matches the appearance of my Mac Pro.
I don't understand comments like this. If this device is not for you why comment at all ? It surely doesn't add to the discussion.
Not gonna buy this... first apple product that I don't need or want.
Just bought some more sonos today.
Latency is my biggest concern, even though I rarely play games on the computer. Plus, I use Windows 10 on my Mac Pro every now and then. Not sure how well that would work out. So much for a nearly wireless desk...for now. There’s probably a tiny bit of latency - watching movies and YouTube is fine but I bet playing games would drive me nuts.

My Amazon Echo is still doing fine outperforming Siri on almost everything including voice recognition and voice quality.
Don't think this product will "sell out" anytime soon. Good luck to buyers. Maybe there's gold in those hills, but I think you'll be panning the river a very long time to find it...
That's exactly what I'm doing. Ordered it to test on my own and see if it is worth the high price tag. If I'm not ready for it yet then I will return it.Pretty much true. Ditto with AirPods.
Some people are so invested in tearing something down they haven't tried. Guess it helps them to feel good about themselves.
With Apple's 14 day return policy, it's easy enough to evaluate HomePod in your own listening environment - which is what really counts - and then decide if it's a keeper or not.
You can mute the mic on both of them.Plus there's 0% chance that I'll let an always-listening device from Google or Amazon in the house.
For me it’s not about the personal assistant it’s about having a speaker that ties in with all my other Apple products.
Limiting to apple music only really kills the device. Siri sucks compared to competitors. I absolutely hate locking myself in to any one ecosystem. And it's incredibly overpriced. I'm sure it sounds great but at that price I don't care how great it sounds.
While I do subscribe to apple music at least I can bluetooth it to my google home or alexa or my 2 stereo system I already have. And if I ever ditch apple music for another service I can still use that with my devices.
